The virtue signaling in this thread is thick with righteous indignation. Okay we all acknowledge how much smarter and clever you are, feel better now?

Why do you feel compelled to tell anyone else how stupid they are if they aren't as prepared?

I get bragging a little on your stockpiles but what's the point of your smug little lectures?

    Just an observation.

What is the point of your post? Isn't that just an attempt at showing how smart you feel?

No it's pointing out people can talk about their preparations without insulting other people, telling them they "get what they deserve", how stupid they are and other recriminations.

No one knows why others aren't as prepared. Maybe they lost their job, maybe there was major illness in their family and any number of other reasons.

Mostly I just feel it's not anyone's place to tell someone else what they "should have done". I didn't call anyone out by name, just pointing it out.

For once, I agree with Whistler.
I live in the country. The woods are across the road. About 50 yards.
If the time comes to get lost in them, my best .22lr, 17hmr and 9mm go first. If I can see you inside 200 yards, you are toast.
Then .223s and long range if I can. Anything else is expendable if neccessary.
If I lived inside a city of any size, all that would change drastically.
We all have different circumstances and experiences.
My advice,,,screw what I am doing. Use what you have that works best for you.
If shit hits the fan, anything else,,,,, draw your own conclusions.......

I learned my lesson many years ago about being prepared for things.

I'm not going to berate or belittle someone because they failed to be prepared. That is entirely their fault and problem to deal with

It may sound cold, cruel or uncaring, but I believe in survival of the fittest, and self preservation of myself and loved ones.

And that’s where the lefturds lose their minds.
It’s not fair that you have something and are prepared while they are not.
Example: Years ago I knew a fellow who would best be described as an old hippie.
He loved hanging out on the beach, playing guitar, singing, smoking a doob, and drinking beer.
Imagine a tier 3 Jimmy Buffet wannabe.
Good ol boy but not good for much.
Now we lived right down here on the gulf of Old Mejico and every year these things called hurricanes like to come visit.
So I’d warn him every spring to get his ass ready NOW for when the storm inevitably would come.
He was on a whole bunch of meds. So get a large supply now.
Gas cans, generator, food, water, meds, cash, automobile ready to go, etc.
But nooooooo. He wanted to spend his $ on beer, guitars, weed.
Well ****. I do too but you KNOW you need to prepare. He didn’t.
So when hurricane IKE trashed the place he got caught with nothing but it was Bush’s fault.
He blamed Bush until the day he died. It wasn’t fair you see that he suffered while those of us who prepared didn’t.
Classic Ant and the Grasshopper story.

    Exactly my point.

As far as I can see, you did your best to warn him of what he should prepare for. It was his decision to need or ignore that advice to be prepared.

    Great post Mr Moonpie.

We do our best to be prepared but don't say anything to people that don't, except the kids.

Finally convinced my Liberal daughter (just the youngest, don't know where I failed her) to sign up for an LTC class. The other two are fine, think I babied this one too much.

She's coming out next weekend to shoot an assortment of pistols, basic safety and so on. No Glocks.

I wanted to be the guy who looked like he had a clue, only owning 556/9mm.

But since I’m generally clueless, I then added 22LR to the mix because it’s cheap and fun to shoot...
then 45 because I couldn’t bear to sell my Dan Wesson....
then 300 Blackout because they’re SOOO quiet suppressed...
    then 6.5CM because snipers...

Now I really want a 308 because it’s marginally cheaper to shoot that 6.5CM.

    But after that, I’m done.
Until the next shiny thing comes along.

I never quite understood how anyone, who really enjoys firearms and shooting, could limit themselves to one or two calibers. Yes, maybe for combat but I do most of my shooting for fun and thus have many different guns in various calibers. Much like you, I had guns in limited calibers, three basic calibers at first and one gauge. They were in 22 LR, 9mm and 12 gauge. Then I added a pistol in 25 ACP, and then a revolver in 357, then this, then that, and now I've got pistols in 9 calibers, rifles in 13 calibers (11 if you take off the ones that shoot multiple calibers such as 22S, 22L, 22LR), and shotguns in two gauges. Then again, I just bought a revolver yesterday in 32 S&W and that will add another new caliber for me. The caliber inventory just keeps evolving and usually expanding.
