It looks like I’m screwed due to all the panic buyers...even I didn’t see this one coming...
I bought half a beef a month ago, before all this started... It’s going to slaughter soon and will be ready May 1st.
I planned on getting a 2nd upright freezer for the garage and started looking today..I mean, I’ve got a month..right?
Went to Lowes and looked all around and no freezers. Walked up the the guy at the counter and ask where they were... sold out.. can’t get any for awhile..

So now I’ve got about a month to find something thats about as hard to find as toilet paper.
In the morning , I’m going to call around to some local stores and see just how bad the situation is....

I guess , if worse comes, I might could have to pay for a couple extra weeks of storage at the processors. I’ve not been in this situation before.

That was tongue in cheek BTW. I totally empathize with your predicament. Who would have thought freezers? Now we know why HEB and Kroger were sold out of beef and chicken. Panic buys.

Right, I would think it would have more to do with the virus causing issues with supply lines from overseas parts.

Most imports come from Asia and almost all come on foreign flagged ships. The crews typically work 9-10 month (consecutive) contracts and sometimes as much as 14 months on board. With todays containerized cargo and a general distrust of sailors there is little if any shore leave for exposure. I have not heard of any shipping (outside of oil which has its own peculiarities) being halted or slowed into the U.S.

The guy at lowes said they sold every freezer they had in about 10 days
He said people were buying anything they had...no matter the make, style , or color..
    It was the TP Army

Neighbor was looking for a freezer for the garage and couldn't find one. So he just went ahead and bought the largest frig he could find. Talking about pissing money away. Less space than my cheap sub $200 chest freezer and he drops $1500.
