I thought about putting this in the Non-Firearms classified, but it didn't seem to fit. Mods, please feel free to move it to a more appropriate location if you deem fit.

I volunteer for an all-breed canine rescue called Texas Canine Pets. You probably know that most shelters have been cleared of animals due to the pandemic scare. Many have been adopted by permanent families. Those of you who understand how the pet-rescue system works now that it depends greatly on volunteers who serve to foster the pet until it can be adopted. Since the rescue agencies have taken on the responsibility of all these animals, their financial resources are taxed.

One of the shelters Texas Canine Rescue works with has a dog that cannot be adopted due to his current medical condition. He is in a good foster home and being adequately cared for - for now. Several rescue agencies are working alongside Texas Canine Rescue to get him healthy and in a permanent home.

Tipton is a male about 5 years old. The vet says he is a Red-Heeler mix. He has a wonderful personality and disposition. He weighs about 50 lbs, is neutered and heartworm-negative. Tipton has a couple of bad teeth and a massive growth on his left hind-quarter. I am attaching photos. The veterinarian estimates a medical bill of around $800 for removal of the mass and the dental surgeries - and that is with a lot of the services being donated.

I know times are hard for a lot of folks. If you are not in a position to help, we all understand and wish you the best. Look at his photo and decide if you can donate a $1 or $2. Here is a link to the rescue's account.

Thanks to those of you who have responded so quickly.
You can see Tipton on the PetFinder page of Texas Rescue Canine, along with other dogs they are assisting with veterinary care and hoping to place into permanent homes.

The folks at TCR will update me tomorrow and I will inform all of you as well about our progress. The vet is confident he will lead a long-and-normal life once these issues are addressed.

I forgot to mention that he was surrendered by his owners at the shelter because of the impending medical bills and was scheduled to be euthanized before TCR pulled him from the shelter, so he has already dodged the proverbial bullet!

I just got off the phone with TCR. Due to your generosity, $250 has already been raised for Tipton on PayPal.
Thank you and consider donating if you have not already done so. If you have, thank you for making a difference for Tipton and helping get him ready for a new chance at life!

I want to donate but I’m always cautious of PayPal links. Is this link in the original post what everyone else is using to donate?

I understand your reluctance, and your caution. in fact, I might have been asking the same question before I donated. I have worked with this particular rescue organization for a while and can vouch for them. I have seen the members of the organization spend their own money on countless animals. I have personally used the link to donate funds; however, I would certainly not be offended if you chose not to donate due to concerns. Such vigilance is prudent in our day of Internet scammers!
