On the part of some folks, I think it's called extreme anger, have you never been very angry. Of course a lot of it is also just a bunch of hoodlum opportunists looking to rape, pillage and plunder (note I am not asking if you ever did any of that).

I've never been so angry that I felt compelled to set a building on fire or steal a television.

I guess we really need a sarcasm font. I thought my second sentence would have made it clear the first was good humored sarcasm - especially with the part in the parentheses.

No portion of that is directed at you, its just an observation. Earlier in the thread I commented it was not a protest but a riot and that is the context.

You won't have to guess when I'm actually being insulting. In this case it was expounding on your sarcasm. All is well.

I did not think you were insulting, just that you took me seriously. Thanks though for saying all is well, likewise here.

    To All,

WHEN/IF we start shooting ALL looters, this !@#$ will come to a screeching halt.
(I was TDY with the USA in San Pedro during the WATTS rioting & half the city would have burned to the ground had it not been for the armed Korean store owners.= The vast majority of LAPD officers just stood & watched.)

A very FEW looters getting one more load of buckshot than they could run off with essentially ENDED the looting/arson.

    just my OPINION, satx

Yep, with those scary looking guns that Dems want to ban. This is why we cannot give up our fight for our right to own any weapon we want.

    Double Duty,

AGREED 100% though for that sort of home protective job, I prefer a 12 gauge DB or my old Model 870 pump-gun loaded with #4 Buck.
(Most street criminals have a pretty fair idea of what a shotgun will do out to 50M & want NONE of that "sort of fun".)
Note: When we are on the farm, my choice for shotgun loads is #1, 0 or 00 buck, as there we don't have neighbors within even EXTREME shotgun range. - Johnny Mac B________'s house is over a 1/2 mile from our front gate..

    yours, satx

I don't get the "cops should hang" comments.

this is still America where you are innocent until proven guilty or do you really want to go the other route where someone thinks you are guilty so you go to jail or hang.

And for anyone that thinks the people are looting and burning in the name of Floyd you are just plain STUPID.

They are criminal thugs that are just doing in mass and in the open what they want to do.

Its the same fools that use social media to get a group of people together and do a mass smash and grab in a store.

I didn’t read the above thread but my response kind of falls in line with the title and I just need to put this out there.

In about a month I’m set to graduate from the police academy. We are taught and have been taught to handle the immediate threat, then render aid. We aren’t taught to hold someone down via knee on neck. That’s never something we are taught to do. It’s okay to put a knee on a shoulder of the person is actively resisting, or a knee on the lower back. No department ever will condone this behavior. This man, George Floyd was murdered plain and simple. The officer who knelt on his neck was not a police officer, he was a thug in uniform. Police officers are there to help, handle difficult situations and stand in the way of danger to the general public. None of what I listed occurred in this situation. It’s saddening, maddening and tragic. I didn’t go into this profession to incite violence and enact unchecked violence on the very people I will swear to serve. The police officers who do incite and enact unchecked violence on the people they swore to serve, behind the badge are uniformed thugs.
It seems as if once the police gain a step closer into bringing some trust between them and the public, something like this occurs. It’s unfortunate, infuriating, and makes me sick. The thing about this is that it could’ve all been avoided in the first place. It’s horrible.

Why haven’t they charged these 4 guys with murder? That’s the part I don’t understand. Nothing justifies this level of violence but there was a crime committed, with witnesses, on video. Seems like enough to book them and start the process of justice. That might have made a difference in all this unrest. There is a major problem here.
