    Show off.

Yep, that’s pretty crazy. And I’m sure the university police, like here, make traffic stops on public roads.

And what about the overhead? How many people filling the same position at different departments that could be consolidated? How much would that save us?

Maybe a county sheriff with outposts all over the county? Maybe, just maybe, a very limited PD for city limits. All “tactical” stuff handled by SO.

I’d love to take a stroll through the US would a few of the Founding Fathers. It would be enlightening and heartbreaking.

City population is 425,000. The entire population of Wyoming is about 580,000. No police will be an interesting situation. I bet though that much of the police problem is the same as any government agency with a civil service position and unions. You can't fire the bad ones without a ton of a hassle, the union fights you on every step, you end up just moving the bad ones around to a different spot and they still do a crummy job. I have worked in a civil service position when I was young. You bust your butt and do a good job and you end up getting the hardest job, the slacker gets move to an easy job, they can't fire the slacker and you both make the same pay.

This is exactly what caused the Floyd situation. The elected city officials all owe their positions to the campaign funding from the unions, including the Police union. Therefore, incompetants like the guy who kneeled on Floyd's neck, probably should have been canned years ago, but the union was successful in keeping him on the job despite all of the previous complaints and the lack of adequate investigations. I work with public agencies all over the country as a consultant and you cannot believe the low level of competence in most city and county government organizations/

I can believe the low level of competence. In my life it seems that the C- and D+ students in high school are are the current crop of politicians. Not the best and brightest.

I hope a lot of people have been woken up to the fact that your security has always been up to yourself in the first place. The criminal element should be cleaned up in no time if so.

Unfortunately I have my doubts about Minneapolis...

If they didn’t figure it out when LE had to stand down during the “shelter at home”, they’d better.

I agree. My cousin lives there and thinks the government leaders will make the right decision. He of course is a liberal.

Government leaders will almost always make the decision that is in their best interest.
That was the original intent of the SCOTUS. To try to keep them from doing just that. Unfortunately it has not been entirely successful.
