The older Dan Wesson revolvers hava a cult following! My father has owned several over the years. They are quite accurate, well made and just a pleasure to shoot.

The older S&W revolvers are awesome to shoot. Decently accurate, and had some of the best factory triggers on the market.

Ruger? They offer some great options, older versions and newer ones to choose from. Built like tanks and can probably handle much hotter loads than most other brands of revolvers. Decently accurate, but the triggers are not as good as some other brands. Not bad, just not great either. Good luck finding a Six series revolver! People that own them, very seldom ever sell them.
This mirrors my experience. I have had several Rugers, currently have a GP100 & SP101 and a pile of S&W revolvers. The S&W's across the board have better triggers. Since they are all range toys, I prefer the S&W's.

I'm not a good handgun shooter, but as I've said on here several times, I invariably shoot a revolver more accurately than a semi-auto pistol. If I were starting out, I'd be leaning heavily towards the 686+ though - they're damn nice guns.

Whatever it is I do get, is like a larger steel frame like an L frame, and looking more towards the longer barrels 5+ inch. It's for range use, until I can work out fundamentals and manual of arms on revolvers. Then I may consider something like the K6s DASA for a carry.

The DW 715 seems to be a little bit on the more difficult side to find, so the S&W is probably my second choice.

Another point to consider, if you run across an older DW Model 15, supposedly the newer 715 parts like barrels, shrouds ect. will interchange between them. You might want to verify that for sure.

I didn't even mention Colt revolvers. The older ones got so stupid in price that they are pretty much limited to collecters with deep pockets now. Nice revolvers, but very expensive.

I think I also saw that 715 takes older barrels and such as well. Could be mistaken. Lots of reading so things get confused in the gray mush.

Yeah, not interested in current Colt firearms, and as much as I'd love the older ones, I want to shoot it and my pockets aren't that deep.

Many nice things about revolvers and I like them at the range but the only one I sometimes carry is a Ruger LCR .38 special. Point one, you never have to pick up your brass. Point two, if you have a snake problem it is easier to shoot snake shot through a revolver than a pistol (unless it is a very light gun like the LCR).
For regular carry though you can't beat an automatic. Even my KelTec P32 is 7+1. My Ruger LCR is 5+0. Yes I do carry speed strips.
For range and target shooting I enjoy my revolvers which range from 22LR to .44 magnum. A Colt Python (old model), mostly S&W, and a single Ruger (LCR). All are great. And you don't have to bend over to pick up brass.

Elf is one of the w’s fave movies.

If it weren’t for cowboy action shooting, I’d prolly own just one or two wheel guns.
