IF someone emerges to challenge Abbott, and has strong conservative values, and isn't a Democrat, I will seriously give that candidate strong consideration. Voting for any Democrat in current times is dangerous. So if no one challenges Abbott, I'll have to go with voting for him.

I'm not enthused about that, but better the devil you know, than the one you don't.
This is what most of us are saying.

I think he was responding to the guy up there saying there will be no reason to vote Republican if Abbott isn’t impeached and removed from office.

    But I could be wrong.

Shouldn't we be working with the state and county GOP offices to ensure that there IS a challenger? I already messaged our county office to tell them I expect an option to Abbott. I told them that we would NOT be voting Abbott, so I'll have to decide if there is another acceptable choice when the time comes.

Not wrong. I refuse to vote for any Democrat. If it comes down to Abbott and Democrat, I'll bite my tongue and vote for him.

Abbot’s done and Patrick’s been out and about laying the ground work for his bid in the next primary. The only question is whether Abbot’s going to run again or not and that’s still 18+ months away.

About the only real thing we can do at our level is engage our local GOP chairs. You can find their contact info here.

After Patrick's takes during COVID nonsense, I don't see him standing a huge chance, and if he snubbed the state GOP convention like Abbott did, he doesn't deserve the nomination. He dug enough of a hole, and the media will gleefully twist around his words and make him out to be a Grandma killing nazi - there would be cartoons of him lining up old people and stuffing them onto trains to take them to a "farm" - even though he didn't mean he wanted to kill off old people (since he, himself, is old)

Patrick and Abbott just need to retire and let fresh blood take the top jobs.

That kind of talk just encourages his lawless behavior.
