    It's pronounced "stɑ lɪnˌgræd".

But seriously, it's "bear". The x is silent.

It is more correct per Spanish pronunciation to say Bay-har (same as saying Oaxaca) but that's not now it's pronounced here.

Texas pronunciations are quite unlike anywhere else.

And I thank God every day for that along with the rest of the differences.

    Morning y'all.

    What about “Buda”?
    I have heard b-you-dah, and boo-duh...

Buddha was a Chinese wise man, and the town isn't named after him. It's "BYOO-duh".

Also, the town of Manchaca is pronounced "Man-shack". Even by the guys I went to school with who spoke Spanish as a first language. Apparently it's an English adaptation of an Indian phrase having to do with the creek there. The elementary school in the town of Manchaca, though, was named after a guy whose last name was Menchaca, so it's pronounced "Men-CHA-ca".

    Gunz are icky.
I’ve heard Refugio pronounced as Ruh-fear-e-oh.
    Also heard it as Ree-foog-he-oh.

I grew up around New Braunfels. The old Germans back then said it New Brawn-full. Leaving off the S.
