My daughter is licensed in Georgia. Texas has reciprocal agreement with Georgia. Can she purchase gun from Texas FFL, in this case BassPro, then turn around and sell it to me?

Chapter 46.07 indicates she would be able to purchase it. Didn’t find anything, yet, if she can sell it. The foregoing assuming “recipical” is absolute. 46.07 states “A resident of this state can purchase, where otherwise not nestricted by law, firearms and ammunition in another state.” It’s in quotes but I paraphrased it a bit.

There in lies the problem. I’m waiting on either NICS or Texas LTC to come back. We were looking for workaround for tactical courses starting Tuesday. Absolute work around is range rental of pistol and holster at 25.00 per day. Rental is S&W M&P Shield 9mm.

If she can buy it can she gift it to you?

Ahhh.... therein lies the ‘grey’ area. {Same question the Z-CAM man brought up}.

“Intent” becomes a difficult thing to prove.

Unless, of course, the young lady’s dad has already publicly cast aspersions on her intentions. And that questionable action has already been made a matter of public record, such as a posting in a gun forum!

The mere fact he asked this question publicly and disclosed the intentions is likely enough evidence to doom the endeavor. (And potentially have the ATF cause problems....).

Transferring a firearm between her and himself will require going through an FFL also since they aren't residents of the same state.

Licensing is irrelevant. Where she is a resident is what matters.

Flipping a gun from FFL to someone else is generally lying on 4473 question 21.a.

    Doug,
Cutting to the chase. Unless your NICS is cleared Monday, probably your best bet is to plan on using a rental. Think I’d check on “reserving” the rental in advance too (just to make sure it’s available when you need it). Good luck.

I believe a GA resident can buy a long gun in TX, but handguns can only be purchased in the state of residence. So I do not think she would be able to purchase a handgun in Texas. Best thing is she gives you the $ and you buy the gun, no eyebrows raised.
It can be purchased here but Cabelas would have to ship it to an FFL in Ga

I have a question after reading all this. If I want to gift a rifle to my grandson, who lives in Okahoma, what is the process I must go through?

Give it to him. It does not need to go through an FFL. People inherit firearms all the time without going through an FFL. (Might want to just check your state law to make sure the state doesn’t have any gotcha’s).
