So overtime is out, budget cut by 1/3. Vehicle, building and utility costs are still the same. Does this mean half the police work will now be responding to traffic accidents and blocking a lane of traffic while they wait on the tow truck, or did I-35 just become a no go zone because the cops will no longer respond to accidents due to lack of paid manpower?

(yes I know the Austic city council would be triggered by the word manpower)

Houston laid off fire fighters now they are defunding police in Austin. Let's hope the election coming up goes better than 2018 where even the suburbs in Houston turned blue, and Austin, Dallas and SA seems to be almost always blue, driving around I have been noticing a lot of out of state driver's license so far the big winner 3 VA license plates driving up NASA 1. I think they are running from newsome so they may vote red if they are moving here. MA and NY were some of the other foreign license plates I noted.

I grew up in Pflugerville, way back when the population was in triple digits and there was one schoolhouse and the rock gym. Been to four or five continents and 29 countries since. Wasn’t always invited and more often than not left a mess. The presence or absence of LEO never been a factor in where I live. Safety isn’t provided by LE, but by the people. There’s places I didn’t go growing up, and won’t go today, just like in San Antonio or any major metro area.

Our daughter teaches in a public charter school in Austin and lives on the south side there, down past the old IRS building that was at Ben White and 35.

When we visit with our daughter, she either comes to us, meets us at family places in Liberty Hill, or we meet in one of the in-between counties because we refuse to support communist governments with tax dollars.

From an el photo grande perspective, business and tourism rely on a basic level of safety being guaranteed. There’s a reason why major metro areas that can’t provide that are having a tough go of it; I’m willing to let them experiment and fail.

What I’m not willing to do is bail them out.
