The concert thread got me thinking about pissing away money on things. There where plenty on thing I pissed money away on once. Kind of like learned my lesson the first time.

I really, really need $1500.00 to get my grandmother out of jail. I can pay you back when my brother's back gets better.

Nope, I try never to miss an air show if I can get to it. But the River Walk? Yeah, I can skip it. The one in OKC, too.
I couldn't stop laughing when I saw the OKC river walk. I've never seen such a massive, expensive effort to copy another city. It reminded me of those fake Apple stores in China where everything looks like it's from Apple but everything is just a cheap copy. There should be a picture of the OKC river walk in the dictionary under "knock-off".

I have been to one air show, and it was alright, but I'd rather see aircraft like in a museum.

I'd rather see them in the air. I love aircraft museums, too, but the museum can't replicate the sound of a Rolls Royce Merlin roaring as a P-51 flies by, or the organ-shaking feel of an F-15 turning its afterburners toward you. At an airshow they're more real - museum pieces are often just the hollowed-out husks of once-powerful airframes. At an airshow, you experience them rather than just looking at them.

The one I went to many years ago, I think was a lot of newer aircraft. Could be the difference I guess.

Most of the ones I've been to have been a mix - current military jets, helicopters, civilian aerobatics and classic warbirds. Like I said, seeing them in the air turning and burning is way better than looking at an empty shell sitting in a museum. And yeah, I've got no use for stuff like jet powered drag trucks...but when that stuff's going on, I'm walking among the static displays and chatting with pilots.
