Also food for thought about range visits... you're trusting some "range worker" to take out YOUR can and put it back in the right place. Will they let others shoot it because they didn't look up serials correctly? Will it go back in YOUR box and not the identical looking box next to it?

Speaking personally, I'm big on attention to detail. I handle most all of the "ATF compliance" type things around here, checking things in and out of A&D, all the 'number' stuff that's really easy to mess up. I'm organized to a fault-- -meaning this goes here ALWAYS NO MATTER WHAT DON'T PUT IT SOMEWHERE ELSE.

That all being said... you have no idea about the panic that arises when you can't find a suppressor in the shop. (Because someone put it on the wrong shelf in the safe, or it fell behind other cans, or a Saker 556 got put with the Specwar 556s. Now imagine that you've got someone who may or may not be organized or really focus on that moving a can around all the time.

I'm not saying it will go south, but there's some liability that comes with using a can in jail. Personally I prefer it on the shelf and untouched until we need it for either an audit or someone gets to take it home.

I'll chime in another thumbs up for Capitol, getting your can in the mail is quite satisfying. They're also great about answering both technical and "not so bright" questions

For quite a few Houston guys we do everything remotely, including ship to their residence when the forms are approved. Most of our Texas clients aren't actually in Austin, we sell a huge amount to folks in Houston, Dallas, El Paso, etc.
Just out of curiosity, if you do everything remotely, how does that work for fingerprints and photos? I imagine the customer gets the fingerprint cards, takes them to "a place qualified to do prints" (generally PD or Identigo), maybe sends you a digital picture or a Walgreens passport photo,...? Then when it's done you send their sheriff a notice and wait the requisite 7 days...then ship it to them? Just wonder about the logistics. Still charge the 8.25% Austin sales tax? And shipping maybe, or not?

I know it can all be done that way but just wonder what the advantage is over doing it with a local guy (unless it's a product he can't get) if there's a bunch of mailing back and forth and waiting. (easy set up for "insert QVC style ad here"..."Well thanks, Chuck! Glad you asked! It slices, it dices, it even juliennes fries. But if you call now, you'll get a special gift! The big advantage of using Capitol Armory is....")

I am glad if people on this forum are using you guys since you're sponsors. I harp on it all the time that it's ridiculous that the people post ads for stores that haven't even heard of, nor contribute in any way, to TGT. "Academy is having a sale..." "I just went to Bass Pro and got this..." "Here's a guy who'll do practically free transfers...list any other stores who don't get on TGT and their prices too!..." Yes, there's an entire thread that makes like an FFL directory for transfers, none of whom actually pay for the listing. Kind of unfair to the guys who pay or otherwise contribute IMO.

Arms Room, and Boyerts, both got mentions in this thread...free advertising. Primary Arms and Capitol get mentions, but both are paying sponsors apparently. Kind of delicate where it's a community open to discussion, but the community wouldn't exist without the paid support of it's sponsors who have to then compete with the free mentions of the competitors. If you enjoy this forum, consider first buying from the companies that contribute to or support this forum. It's one thing to discuss your favorite handgun load. It's quite another to effectively, even if unintentionally, shill for companies that have never even heard of TGT.

Reminds me of the guy who comes in my feed store and says "I'd like you to support my kid in FFA." but buys his feed at Tractor Supply or the High School Football Team that wants you to take out an ad in their calendar but yet the very parent calling you to place the ad has never been in your store and buys everything on Amazon or Chewy. Maybe you should get Mr. Bezos to take out an ad.

Just a pet peeve of mine, obviously. Support the guys who are supporting you.

That's basically the process, you can order the fingerprint cards directly from the atf for free and do them yourself. Some police departments will do your prints free if you call and ask nicely and bring the forms with you.

As far as mailing back and forth/ waiting I'll say it added MAYBE 3 weeks to a 9 month process, not a big deal imo.

I used capital to double down on silencerco's BOGO promotion, they gave me an extra can for using them. I ended up with 5 cans for $2500, stamps included.

Maybe People chose them over the local guy because Capitol Armory has good pricing and run unbeatable specials.
Right now if you buy a Sig pistol suppressor, they pay your tax stamp.
A buddy of mine bought a SiCo Hybrid and got a rimfire can for free.

I tend to agree with you about supporting local businesses, but they are local to many people on the forum, and still a small Texas company either way.

I know sometimes the promos are in house and sometimes they're manufacturer sponsored. Either way, it's a good deal. Glad CA is taking care of their customers. As for adding 3 weeks to the process, it's still 3 more weeks (other replier), but that's each customers choice. I know some stores that will have 100% of your paperwork done in 24 hours and sent to ATF and you pick up in store when the stamp arrives, same day, while others will send you all over town, a week to get a trust done, then we'll check it eventually and mail it someday...oops, we forgot four months later. Seen the whole gamut.

I prefer the support of local businesses when possible, and especially if there is any service given (e.g don't go to a gun store to fondle the merch just to buy it from Buds once you know what it feels like). But specific to this forum, I hope that people STRONGLY consider supporting the sponsors of the forum, especially if they're competitive on pricing. The sponsors are the analog to the LGS, in this case. They support you. You support them. That's how it should work.

As for your tag line, I just watched a documentary about Ruby Ridge. I forget where, but I think it might have been a Netflix special series and maybe even something about terrorism or government overreach or something. It definitely painted the FBI in a bad light (and rightfully so). Then it mentioned how the attention just dropped off due to a hurricane. And then they had Waco. I didn't know the graphic details of Ruby Ridge until that show. Crazy. Also crazy about how the black community "hates cops" and thinks the "white racist cops are just killing all the black men." No, they're killing whoever gets in their way. Ruby Ridge: white folk. Waco: white folk. Kent State: white folk. Similiarly, mass shootings disproportionately target white people (theater, church, campus, and other gun free zones).
