I've read all the ways folks have talked about having spammers do this or that, etc. My own person opinion is to not allow new members the ability to put items up for sale until a 60 or 90 day time has passed. I think few trying to sell something would put up with the wait. Just my two bits.

I’m with Hoji. Most of who is joining is joining just in hopes of making extra money in a crisis. It’s what it is.

I don’t trust many people. I definitely don’t trust some random dildo trying to rip people off. This day and age it might be a scam anyway. People need to stay and be a part of this community. I have shared my thoughts on closing new membership before. I’m telling you guys now if gun owners get screwed in the senate we should make tgt extremely more private. No need to have snakes in the grass...

If you’re adding new rules for posting classified ads, how about requiring the seller to be able to string together a few words to form a cogent thought?

There’s some real authentic frontier gibberish in some of those ads.

Personally, I don't have a problem with the status quo. When you see a WTS from a guy with 26 posts then take it with the appropriate grain of salt. Meanwhile, I like to watch the obvious spammers to see if they are just socially inept or are peddling snake oil and what that kind of oil they have.

Nobody is forced to buy anything. Newcomer listing something? Take appropriate precautions.

I would not send money to anyone without an established track record (and not even a few of those).

I keep looking for some gun deals near where I live in Wichita Falls. Nobody ever posts a for sale near me. I think I am old enough to handle either going for a sale or rejecting it. Rarely see anything for sale on the for sale gunsites within driving distance.

You think you have it rough. My heart goes out every time I see someone from El Paso posting a classified. Most of us are willing to travel some for the right deal but who would drive ~8 hours for that deal?
I might for a smoking deal on ammo. Would have to be a smoking deal on 10,000+ rounds of something centerfire though. And by smoking, I mean it would have to be pre rice rabies prices.

From my POV, there are three kinds of sellers ...

Dealers (some legal, some not so legal)
    Collectors, Users, Enthusiasts
    Folks in a financial bind.

I don't see how the site can increase requirements to post a for sale thread without penalizing 2 of the three.

    Tough call.
