So the moral of the story is that snowflakes are lost without gps?
Partially, maybe, but how many of us have not used our smartphone’s gps maps when traveling? How many of us have even opened a Rand McNally in the last 10 years.
Now think about all of those parents that know how to read a map, but never took the time to teach their kids how.

    It’s not just “snowflakes”

I mainly use the GPS map on my smart phone for once we get where we get where we are going for locations of the streets. I do still use a road atlas for the general directions. Or else I already know how to get there.

Real men don't get lost, or ask directions! LOL!

I do not rely on google map. Seen it be wrong too many times. Perhaps because I am often going to out of the way places.

My kids knew how to read maps at age 6. One of them navigated us from Texas to Vermont when they were only about 12 or 13 YO. Nary a wrong turn.

Anyone here remember when you could go to AAA and get a Trip Tik? They would provide all the maps and highlight the suggested route? That was google maps before google maps. I always preferred a detailed atlas, but would still stop by and get the trip tik and brochures of things along the suggested route.

When I moved to Dallas some 25 years ago I hired on as a telephone technician. I was handed a set of keys to my van and a Mapsco. That’s how I learned how to drive around Dallas. Before that I literally only knew how to drive from Houston to my then girlfriend’s (now wife) apartment.

I remember going to the Humble building in downtown Houston. They would do the same. Give you all the maps you wanted. Then highlight the quickest route and the most scenic route.
