Hi Guys - new to the forum - I just purchased a RCBS Rock Chucker 5 station progressive loader that I should have soon. And the search is on for everything.

Looking for 444, 30-30, 30-06 components to start. Brass, etc.. Since I'm new to the reloading process, I don't have anything to trade quite yet. Any advise?

RP 7.62x39 brass is small primer.
I use 'em to make my 6.5 Grendel ammo.
    Small primer = less brisance*

    Definition of brisance

: the shattering or crushing effect of an explosive measurable by the crushing of sand or the compression of a metal cylinder and dependent upon the rate of detonation and other factors

    Shifts components prior to powder's
    combustion.
    introducing another variable to accuracy
    Large primer = more
    small primer = less
remember it takes two explosions to make the bullet leave the barrel

Yes...this is what my intention is with the 7.62x39 brass. Can't find anyone willing to part with Grendel brass, so I guess I'll have to make my own.

I have been shooting the 6.5 Grendel in my contender and my AR for years.
I have always made it from 7.62x39 brass.
Personally I haven't noticed a difference in primer size as it relates to performance or accuracy.
These days, any brass is a freaking commodity!
Much cheaper to build your ammo but primer, powder, and bullets are also becoming an issue.
