Has anyone done the Sig Custom Shop FCU thru Sig and/or been able to get one?

Any first-hand feedback as compared to a standard P320 FCU or an X-Five FCU?

Bonus points for someone in DFW willing to meet at a range. Really want to get a feel for if $300 for an FCU (when you can even get one) is worth it.

Let us know if you do get to try one and your impressions.
I will. I could maybe swallow the $299 but even if I wanted to, can't find 'em in stock.

Upside is you can make a pretty sweet custom gun with all the cool slides and grip modules out there without having to part out a regular one (which is a hassle). Is it even really a Sig at that point?

This is exactly what my son wants to do. He's already located a TXP grip module, a tungsten infused polymer. Just needs to find the rest of the parts to finish his pistol.

Gotcha; yeah the TXP module comes standard on the X5 Legion; I've got one of those (pic in my 'welcome to the forum' thread). It really is heavy like a steel gun and feels similar to holding a real German 226 X5 even if it doesn't quite shoot the same.

If he likes the TXP grip module and doesn't have an FCU yet, it may not be a bad strategy to pick up an X5 Legion and trade the TXP grip module for a custom slide or something. My understanding is the Custom FCU is supposed to be similar to the one in the X5 (in that it's upgraded a bit).

Thanks for the advice, we'll be on the prowl for a X5 Legion. Anyone have one they'd like to part with?

I see them regularly on arfcom. I bet there is one right now. Be warned though, it's a seller's market right now and people want just ridiculous money for some stuff. X5 Legions are so common that you will probably find a reasonable one. For reference I paid 900 for mine new before all this craziness. Check TexasGunTrader too. I see them there also with some regularity...I check those two sites for interesting older Sigs but it's all P320s all the time nowadays. I bet you'll find something.

Don't take my word on the custom FCU = X5 FCU though. It's definitely an upgrade from the regular FCU either way but i'm not sure they are 100% the same - I think the custom FCU has a cerakote job for example (not that this matters functionally).

Pretty much impossible to get that FCU at least in the boonies, which are our state's capital. Our "Master Dealer" says they cannot get orders placed with their distributor. Maybe someone Houston can get one.
