Oh, I forgot that Orleans has a split Sheriff's Office. Marlin Gusman or earlier ? Gusman's PGGGF & mine were officers in the same Confederate Company for a while.

    le Vieux,

I worked for NOCSO when CHARLIE FOTI was in that JOB.
(I was ONE of the FIRST 10 deputies that OPENED the (then) NEW PARISH PRISON. = We ten guys were essentially ALONE for the FIRST 2 weeks, as the Sheriff picked us to test everything & "find any bugs" in the new prison.)

    yours, satx

SATX, FYI, the split office deal was done away with after Katrina, Gusman is now THE SHERIFF, the only one presently. leVieux

When I was at Fort Carson, Colorado Springs had an interesting regular article in the newspapers. It listed the people arrested for frequenting hookers. The PD had bait hookers and arrested the johns. Two fun facts about the list was soldiers from Fort Carson and the cadets from Air Force Academy. The really funny fact was that female cadets were getting busted for hooking.

    leVieux,

FWIW, I never saw a GOOD reason to have BOTH a Criminal & a Civil SO.
(We seemed to always be working "short-handed", though I made a LOT of "extra bucks" working overtime, while the guys over at the Civil SO seemed to do LITTLE but sit around, play dominos/checkers & go out for "long coffee & lunch breaks".)

ADDENDA: Not long before I finished my graduate work at Tulane & went back to Army AD, a "really ripe corpse" was found in a townhouse on Ramparts.
The ME's office said that he had died of natural causes about 4-6 weeks before. When his ID was traced, he was found to have been a Deputy Civil Sheriff & was still getting paid.
(NOBODY had noticed that he was "missing from his job". - LOTS of REALLY "red faces" at the Civil SO when THE PICAYUNE published his obituary.)

    yours, satx

My daughter was similar to that. Just a fuckin' nightmare until she was probably 22 yo. Now we get along fine but man them growin' up years were something else. Wouldn't wish'em on anyone.
Mine daughter is just turning 22 and beginning to act rationally... man... the boy was SO much easier to handle, in every way.
