Almost. What is SkyWarn? It sounds cool.

We are storms spotters for the National Weather Service. A good number are amateur radio operators and we are deployed when weather looks like it can become severe. I have to take the class every couple of years to be part of the Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES). We also provide all the event communications for the Cowtown Marathon and events of the sorts. We also provide a liaison at TMS, FW Botanic Gardens, Mayfest, etc when there are major events so NWS can get info directly to the event management in the case of storms.

She bought a couple of purses. Left earlier than I wanted. but the little one was getting tired.
There were a few selling ammo for crazy prices. 17hmr @ $25.00/50 and one guy selling some old 5.56 @ $25.00/20. A few older rifle/pistols/shotgun, but again, outlandish prices. At least the misty rain went away and the sun came out. Ended up a nice day.

Negative...If I need to look at radar that means net control isn’t communicating with us. Also, too many people use it to report stuff when we are supposed to be out there reporting what the storm is doing.

Ahhhh, there is a difference between a spotter and a chaser.
A chaser needs that sort of setup since they are running without an “overwatch” and need to be able to track storm movements near roads they would be traveling in order to be in the best location to take pictures/video.

As a spotter we position ourselves is strategic locations waiting for the storm to move in so we can observe and provide data back to the NWS. Net control will advise us to move as they perceive changes in the storms direction and intensity.

I’m from Indiana. Sally was my first, and hopefully only hurricane.
A hurricane is a tornado that takes 4 days to pass. Hurricanes are hard on your liver. Fact!!!
