Ahhh! Pinball! We used to sneak away from high school at lunch and go to the bowling alley (Lake Air Lanes) and play pinball!
In Texas you had to be 21 years old to play pinball, because it was considered a gambling device.
We had a family trip to Hawaii around 1971 and I saw the local kids playing pinball, then all scattered but left the machines with credits on them, so I started playing. About that time a Police cruiser meandered by and motioned me over. He gave me a stern warning about playing those machines....

I don't remember that. There were pin ball machines in many places all around our small town. Played a lot of pinball in high school. No restrictions as far as I know. It's just an arcade game, no money involved except for the nickle in the slot.

Pinball was legally redefined in the 70’s. One jurisdiction officially ruled it a game of skill (as opposed to chance) in 1974.
Up until that era, it was outlawed in a lot of the US .
