Some schools do, but I think it is an elective course, rather than a club... My San Antonio high school had, and still has, Army ROTC.

In the early '70s my issue weapon was an M-14, drill team got Garands. Imagine bouncing Garands off asphalt today... I'd cry, lol!

In the late 70’s my unit had a rifle team (match 22s) that practiced daily after school at the on campus range. You know that wouldn’t fly in today’s climate.

Our armory had a range and we had an JROTC rifle team... I'm sure the range is still there, not sure about the rifle team... Apparently, some schools do still have rifle teams.

Our local senior high school has a target team (sporting clays, skeet), in its 7th year of competing.

Ours was in the basement of the school. North High School in Wichita, Kansas. Met in the mornings before classes started IIRC. Mid 70's. CMP rifles (.22's) and ammo IIRC too.

Since I have had mine I have never recieved a ticket for any traffic violation. I got stopped in Prosper TX 2 weeks ago gave both licenses to the female officer. She came back and gave me a warning and thanked me for providing my LTC. She said most people she deals with don't know that's the law
That's right I was stopped on I-10 heading west, put my DL and chl on the dash. DPS asked if my gun was in the glove box, I said it was on my hip. He said no problem, I was issued a warning for no front plate on a Camaro.

I had firearm safety when getting my hunting license as a teenager. I took it seriously and shooting in IHMSA for 10 years instilled safety.

I always wondered who that front plate was for DPS or the Louisiana cops so they would know they had an out-of- stater. I asked one late one night in Jennings but he wouldn't give me a straight answer just a ticket as I drove among a group of in-state cars.

They don't represent all LEO's or Instructors.....it was a pretty small group of LEO's from major Urban Cities.....

and a couple of so called instructors...one of which had NRA emblazoned across his shirt.........we should call the NRA and ask them if he was representing their view.......

I'd bet they wouldn't be happy about it...

I thought this was an interesting article:

I can't see the problem. LE officers can't even ask to see your carry permit if they see you openly carrying, unless you have committed some criminal infraction.

This would be akin to more of the "sky is falling" mentality, just like years ago when concealed carry was passed, and people were screaming about the "streets would be running red with blood" if the law passed.

Hmmm.....never did happen that I can recall.

According to one of our members in San Antonio a cop will stop and id anyone they see open carrying. Illegal as hell to do it without probable cause of a crime but he says that’s what they do.
We need constitutional carry now more than ever.

Somebody should tell those Cops & instructors that no eligible citizen should be required to have a permit to carry openly or concealed (much less pay for one) any more than they should have to do the same in order to speak about the issue.

They are ignoring the multitude of restrictions of firearms use already placed on legitimate gun owners everywhere.
