Bingo!! Africans sold their African people into slavery.

    Danny2021,

SADLY, I must also say that CHATTEL SLAVERY IS STILL COMMONPLACE in 2021 , in AFRICA, in several ARAB nations & in some other places, too.

    oldag,

In November of 2002, a college friend of mine's wife was OFFERED a 14YO Somali girl for 2,000 USD, while they were working for a petroleum geology company in the Mid-East.
(That's when I found out that slavery in Africa was still commonplace.)

I asked Fritz how the situation worked out & he said, "When we found out what would happen to her if she wasn't sold into bondage, we bought her, freed her, enrolled her in the local HS & hired her as a 'mother's helper' by the month. Six years later, she married a boy that she had met in school. Then we hired her husband to drive my wife & the children."

And you "Do-Gooders" are much of the problem that makes slavery an ongoing problem in the world. Why? Because without people buying other people, there might be less of a demand which would shorten supply.

Oh, come on now, guys. I'll happily pay reparations - it's the least I can do. So...anyone I've personally owned as a slave, or who has themselves been owned by a member of my immediate family, it would only be proper that I pay reparations to them.

Of course, since I've never owned a slave, and nobody who's clamoring for these reparations has ever been held in involuntary slavery by another individual, the point is moot and they can **** right off.

Supply & demand. Flood the market until it no longer exist. Like ivory trade, why burn it when they could sell it into a market to lessen demand!

Don't forget the Belgians, who facilitated the African slave trade in the 18th and 19th centuries. They're who those other tribes were selling to, who would then sell the human cargo to the slave ships.

    General Zod,

Actually, the "BIG PLAYER" in the "flesh trade" was always PORTUGAL, as they started buying/selling/transporting slaves in the early 1600s & were still ACTIVE in the trade when the British Royal Navy's Anti-Slavery Patrols finally ENDED the Trans-Atlantic slave trade, circa 1880.

BTW, Portugal's military owned, operated & staffed CUIDAD LUANDA, the huge SLAVE FORTRESS & "WHOLESALE SLAVE MARKET" on the West Coast of Africa, until the RN destroyed it with naval cannon fire well after TWBTS.

Y'know what? You're right- it wasn't the Belgians I was thinking of. Though they did plenty of crappy stuff in Africa too.

    General Zod,

I was NOT arguing with you about the HORRID EXCESSES of Belgium, which unlike Portugal's slave trade, was MOSTLY land-based & MOSTLY confined to Belgium's colonies in Sub-Saharan Africa..

Houston's ABC channel 13 did a 6pm news story tonight where SheJac .. I mean .. the Honorable Sheila Jackson Lee .. stated private individuals are not responsible for reparations, it is Federal and State governments that condoned slavery who must pay. I swear she said it with a straight face, someone please find and post that clip.

I didn't find the video, but this article pretty much says the same thing you just posted.
