I'll be looking to buy a 1911 in the near future. I want a full size not a compact. Was thinking about getting one in .40 S&W. Does anybody make one with double or staggered stack mags, in either .40 or .45? Wondering about opinions on the best one to get for a reasonable price. $1000 and under.:1zhelp:

Para makes a double stack .45 ,but their double stack 1911s seem to be problematic.I had a P14 and had nothing but problems with it.I have single stack Paras that are great guns.I also have a Kimber Pro ten that shoots good.

I have several Paras I have never had any issues with mine. I have a double stack 45, single stack 38 super, a carry 9 (sub compact) and two single stack carry 7.45 (officer size) pistols. All have always functioned flawlessly and the accuracy is great. Para makes a 16.40 double stack they consider it a limited model or you can spend a little more money and get the Limited Todd Jarrett 16.40.

I haven't seen any chambered for .40S&W. I would like one though if they do produce them eventually. I have the Colt Government 1911 .45acp and its accurate right out of the box. I wish I would have got it before my Glock, but then I'd probably never have got my Glock 23 .40S&W. Both pistols are great but I've just always liked the looks of the 1911's.
