I’m not a fan of killing elephants.
But I understand how money flows.

If not for the money of big game hunters, there would literally be no elephants.

There would be no money for conservation.
No safe land for them to live.
And none would be left due to poaching.

The only elephants left would be caged zoos.

No dude, you don't get to compare Deer to Elephants. Deer are dumb. Elephants are damn near, if not, sentient creatures. They have burial rights, multiple levels of communication including long range communication, self-awareness, tool-usage, art, advanced problem solving and organized societies that are so complex that sociologists are still studying them. They are probably more intelligent than 80% of the general public.

If an elephant needs to be put down you do it the same way you do a dog. Humanely and with dignity.

Wayne doesn't seem like much of a hunter. He truly looked confused through the whole process. His wife 10 ring'd the hell out of her elephant.

I don't know enough about elephants or big game hunting to have an informed opinion about the ethics of their hunt. I can't comment on that aspect of it.

Can't tell if they got the elephant.
Not familiar with the operation of his rifle (bumbles loading).
Puts his finger on the trigger when not shooting (multiple times)
Doesn't understand directions or can't follow directions.
Can't place a shot a close range.

I would feel very uncomfortable hunting with him.

You forgot to add:
- Needs to ask "where" to shoot (guide literally points to the exact spot on the dying elephant... and misses TWICE!)
- Asks "how" to aim... WTF!
- Asks the guide "did I get him"
- Both hunters do not know how to hunt their game, nor are they prepared to perform the tasks needed.

He is just another rich guy on a safari with little to no understanding WTF is going on.

It was so appalling they tried to bury it.
Somehow it found the light of day.
Remember this was filmed before all the NRA crap broke out.
WLP is damned life time politician. He was a lobbyist before he headed up the NRA. He is as Swamp as it gets. All he cares about is keeping the money trough full so he and his confederates can gorge themselves as much as their wallets can allow. They never really wanted to get pro-2A laws passed.

Just like some whales and primates, some elephants and thus the species are evolving to that level. If true the question about hunting them is answerd for you. Is it right to hunt that type of species?

Me? I think I'll never be able to hunt them anyway and wouldnt try to force others one way or another as I think they just might be close to that level of evolution. Still its Just an opinion.

I do think hunting them should be limited to culls and dangerous animals at this point.

Do you know how an elephant typically dies in the wild? Starvation due to molars being ground to nothing. It takes many months. Game Wardens, veterinarians and PH’s will identify an older elephant and track its body mass decrease during times when food is abundant. If determined that it can no longer eat, it will often be put down, or offered as a trophy to someone who wants to pay $30k and up for it, all of that money goes to the preserve it is shot on.

Sure, shooting a bullet that strikes the elephant somewhere is easy. Getting a clean kill on an elephant takes a lot of knowledge and skill. WLP is hardly someone on my "liked people" list, but he dropped the elephant on the first shot. His situational awareness freaking sucked and his weapons handling skills sucked. I think the follow up shots were insurance mostly and still left him looking like the shady, frazzled bozo he is.
