So I spent two weeks last June dealing with protests in Houston. That including about 10 miles of marching in full crowd control gear with a 40mm less lethal launcher...In 90+ degree temps. We marched with them to make sure they didnt do anything stupid, like take over a freeway. 800 arrests were made in those 2 weeks.

I dare anyone in this forum to find a city that arrested 800 protesters last summer. Post a link here and I'll gladly admit if I'm wrong. Once we file the charge it's up to the DA to do their thing. The DA dropped most of the charges and she assured the chief they would prosecute everything. I know I made at least 5 good arrests and made a pistol case on a chick that was carrying a derringer in her bra and pointed it a reporter and her photographer.

Looks like Dallas dropped 600 charges.

The DA in the cities are bought and paid for by BLM.

I have been fortunate to not run into any of the BLM nonsense in Houston so far. I don’t think there has been a lot, but I know last year they had a “peaceful protest” at city hall and Acevedo was there marching with them, claiming that it was whitey’s fault when the protest got physical.

    That place east of Waco....
If we start protests anywhere, it should be in three places....the Mayor's residence, the Police Chief's residence, and the DA's residence. Let them know that they can be held accountable.....wherever they are.

    I know how that feels....

The key thing is it is the elected officials that are releasing violent criminals on PR bonds and dismissing charges with good PC, because of the politics. Until the citizens vote to get rule-of-law DAs and city government, the DAs and city government will continue to handicap police.

It's like if as a kid you were told to clean the house, but then as soon as throw something in the rubbish bin, the DA comes and dumps it back on the floor, then screams about the floor being dirty and needing new gun laws.

The whole bail reform thing has been a shitshow in Harris County. It's mind boggling that crooks committing violent crimes are getting PR and low bonds. We still have a lot of good DA's that ask for high bond amounts but these liberal judges are the real problem. The judges set the bond amounts and nobody thinks about holding them accountable at election time.

Dumb question: I don’t know a thing about the area where this is happening but is there an alternative route to get around the blockade?
There is already OBSTRUCTING A HIGHWAY which is a Class B Misdemeanor. Blocking a road, street, sidewalk, or anything that the public use to travel is an arrestable offense and while no reasonable cop would wade into a crowd, they should be on the radio calling in the cavalry to get the road open asap and dealing with any immediate threats to safety.

The right to assemble or petition the government does not and should not extend to the denial of others' rights to travel safely.

I saw this from a distance.

the cops had the road blocked at the exits so no other cars could get there. There had to be a dozen cop cars along a mile or so of that stretch of road.

Last week a Travis County judge releases 2x teens (17, iirc) charged with MURDER on PR bonds.

Another guy [alledgedly] shot an officer who was charged with agg assault on a PO - firearm, almost got out on a PR bond until he had an att Capitol Murder charge added.

But they and the courts don't do anything to the offenders! Haven't for years and the DAs just say so what. Most judges get re-elected based on NOTHING as their record isn't allowed in election campaigns. Travis county leads the nation in PR bonds.
