HB 918 - Can you advise the details? I’m a little confused regarding your synopsis. If I have a protective order against somebody, then I’m allowed to get a LTC?

    Unless you're otherwise prohibitted.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong because I haven't read the bill, but it sounds like it's really just lowering the age at which one can get an LTC from 21 to 18 if they have filed a protective order against a stalker or whatever. You could get an LTC regardless if you're over 21, so what else would be the point of this?

Notwithstanding that I have a problem with our tiered system of ages of majority to begin with, which is a different discussion for another day, but how is this person going to acquire a handgun to carry? Federal law is still 21, right? Only way to get one is to have one gifted to them, or purchase from a private seller, correct?

Also, to open another can of worms, will you be able to constitutionally carry (assuming that passes) if you're under 21 and filed a restraining order against someone?

yup, or make one. But yeah, no sales from an FFL.

Irony not lost some may inadvertently engage in a straw purchase to get one, and thus get charged under SB162!!!

Here is Text. Note it only applies if you buy from a dealer. Not if you buy from an MFG or importer.

    7) while prohibited from possessing a firearm under state or federal law, knowingly makes a material false statement on a form that is:

    (A) required by state or federal law for the purchase, sale, or other transfer of a firearm; and

    (B) submitted to a licensed firearms dealer, as defined by 18 U.S.C. Section 923

Down yonder there in Texas is whole different planet compared to life in this gulag. Stay away from Illinois where you have very little Rights but you HAVE only what they TELL you that You may do (subject to change) without notice! We only recently were allowed to have concealed carry permits. The restrictions and regulations to get one are the most critical and encompassing of ANY state that has CCW. Before we finally got tis passed you could NOT carry unless you are a law enforcement officer or a Military Officer with orders. Not to include Chicago Alderman. When I started working on guns for museums, I REFUSED to work on anything in Illinois! Still won't!

    Read carefully guys, and gals.
Thankfully, things are moving towards the 2nd amendment. Not so much "away from".

We've got folks on our side in all 50 states. They're beginning to be heard.
The freak show is about over and people are exiting the carnival tent.

    Reality is making a comeback.

If your between the age of 18-21 and you have a protective order against someone AND you do all of the other normal requirements to get a LTC, the. Yes. Meaning passing a background check, get your fingerprints and take a LTC class.

the other thing, is once you turn 21, you can renew The LTC online to a regular one.

"If someone wants to harm or kill you, prior to turning 21, and after turning 18"
You get a fighting chance. If you jump through hoops.

I have agree with Cam on this as well. Probably doing something they should no be doing.

I see a huge problem with a person lying, or providing false information on Form 4473. And yes, IMO if a person knowingly lied, or provided false information on a Form 4473 they should be charged with a felony.

There is only one reason that I can see for a person to knowingly lie, is because if they told the truth, they would be denied from buying and possessing a gun.

If you have to lie, then you probably have no business with a gun in the first place.
Except that there is no such thing as a federally prohibited person in the constitution. Even a 4473 is not constitutional by the US constitution.

I totally agree with you on that. But as laws stand currently, there are what are classed as "prohibited" person from buying, possessing or owning firearms.

Criminals aren't filling out a 4473 to begin with.
