    ZX,

    Where's your imagination?

A small, up the sleeve, kill a fish bat....sheesh, no creativity...

But a tp...puh-leeze...a bit of gas expulsion would be more combative...

So I carry a 'tactical pen' daily. For those that say just carry a knife, kinda hard to get through TSA and other security checkpoints with one these days. Also, if you train with it, you can do alot of damage with one versus a knife. Why would I use a pen versus a knife? Use of force continuum. For those of you that make fun of it, clearly don't understand the use or need. For the OP, I use a schrade pen. $24 on Amazon and most online knife stores.

Thinking about getting one to go with my EDC but, I don’t know nothing about them. So if you carry one, what do you have, pro and cons about them.
Is this a joke thread? What is a tactical pen or do you mean tacticool? I realize a pen can be used as a weapon but then a Bic is as good as a just about any other in that regard. Yeah, a metal pend may be better than plastic one but let's get real - tactical pens!!!!

Reminds me of a joke I read in a WWI joke book:

Sergeant: "If your bayonet gets stuck, just fire a round and the recoil will free it."
Recruit: "Sarge, if I have a round left, that German ain't gettin' close enough to get stuck on my bayonet."

I carry a 5.11 pen I was gifted for a birthday. I really like having a pen that is super sturdy, takes fisher refills, and I guess could be used as a weapon. It has taken a calf (actual small cow) kick and not bent, so I appreciate that.

No, tactical pens are a real thing. Looks like a pen and most even still function as a pen. Some don't. It's another tool in your toolkit. Plus, if you happen to have to go in some places and cannot under any circumstances carry a knife or gun, it's another weapon that no one thinks twice about.

I have one of these, bought it using a gift card from 5.11 years ago...

It's nice and much better than the much cheaper S&W flashlight one I got at Walmart. However, the S&W would still do damage and I am less worried about losing it.

By the way, I always removed my 5.11 tactical pen from my carry-on luggage when flying. You never know what TSA will focus on!

I keep my TQ wrapped around my TP so I can staunch the blood flow after pissing somebody off with my pen.

    In the woods...
I don't carry one, but the OP asked a valid question. When working in areas where firearms are expressly illegal to carry (like I did for almost 30 yrs), I left a handgun locked in my truck in a small security box. I always carried a knife.

We trained our people for shooter scenarios.
I'n the absence of a firearm, a knife taped to the end of a broomstick makes a weapon far superior to a broomstick WITHOUT a knife.

If someone wants to carry a tactical pen, that's their perogative. I wouldn't mind having one in case I dropped my knife in a scuffle!
