Got off work early and getting ready to go visit my family in SA. I jumped in the shower and when I got out heard my dog going crazy outside. He was chasing a fawn around. He finally cornered it and after chasing him and the fawn around this 5 acre plot I managed to catch up. I saw the mom on the other side of the fence when I got to them. She jumped over and went after my dog. He took a licking and I decided to intervene. I grab his collar and started dragging him away all while she was whooping his ass. Then she came at me hooves swinging. I took a couple of shots to my leg and back. Then I turned around and decked her in the snout once and she took off with her fawn. I'm fine and so is the dog, but I'll have some bruises in the morning. Had to shower again after that ordeal. Thought it was funny after, but it got my adrenaline going. Next time I'm grabbing the S&W 686 before I get I the middle of a fight.

If you kill that doe in self defense what does the game warden do? Can you still process it for meat?
We had a lame deer (as in limping, not like @toddnjoyce) on our place. It managed to get into one of our pens but couldn't get out. Laid down and couldn't get up again. We called the game warden, he came out and shot the deer and hauled him off. It seems like if the warden gets involved they'll keep the animal. I wouldn't have want to process that one anyway, no telling what was wrong with it.
