Will be there. It's been a while since I've been out to a show, so I'm itching to go. Will have the HK hat and Infidel shirt on.

The Houston Gun Collectors Association always puts on the best guns shows in Houston. I guess that's why they only have them 4 times a year.

TWCA and "The Real Gun Show" productions have been going down the crapper for years.

You're more likely to be crying when you're walking out the door. You will have seen table after table of the same plastic guns (Glocks and ARs), with almost no antiques, exotics nor collectibles, most all at prices that will leave you underwhelmed.

Don't buy anything for which you don't know the market price. A couple of the established dealers will have good prices, but then you'll find the guy with the surplus Sig P6 who insists that $450 is a great deal.

Don't forget to buy some beef jerky.

I know how to get to Reliant Center, but where is Hall E? Where do you park? I haven't been to one since it was in the Astro hall.

    My shopping list.

2 AR's fully built lowers OR 1 complete AR
    1 revolver ( a nice used 357 )
    1 nice AK
While I have no affiliation nor experience with them, you may wish to see what kind of deals may available through this forum's sponsors. Thought I saw a very competitive price on a complete AR M4 recently. Also, if you have any post purchase issues, an established dealer may be easier to contact than a tabletop vendor.

+1 on buying from an established dealer.I bought a 1911 from a individual at a gunshow and had numerous problems with it.He was a private seller so I took the hit and paid over $300 to get the gun fixed.Unless its a collectable gun I always buy new so I get a warranty with my purchase.

I would like to get 2 complete lowers for 225 each. I think that is more than a fair price.
Hope you enjoy the gun show. Stripped lowers start at $110-130, so I'm really keen to learn what you're going to buy for $225.

Please be sure to post pics or details of the lowers that you buy there.

$99 web special + $25Txfr fee + $10S&H = $134. So like I said...stripped lowers start at $110-130. I also prefer a quality trigger group, so I'd expect to pay a bit more for an assembled lower.

Add in the parts kit and you're looking for someone who assembled it all for $20 in labor. I look forward to seeing the pics of your purchase.

Also, if I remember right, they have to charge an 11% federal excise tax if they install anything into or onto a stripper upper or lower receiver.

Honestly, it takes all of about 10 minutes to assemble an LPK into a lower receiver for a clumsy jerk like me. It aint hard to do, and saves you money. :)

I believe the 11% excise tax is for the complete rifle. Gubmint gets 11% for someone putting their thumb on and pressing the pushpin to mate the upper to the lower. No excise tax on just the lower.
