I’m very pro 2A. I think everyone should have the right to carry, but people need training. Training can be from home, in school, at the range, etc. When everyone grows up around firearms and knows about safety, Constitutional Carry is great. When people have no training and start carrying, things could get messy.
Things are already messy. I say start passing out the Darwins.

Take care of the ones you love. Let the stoopid ones go away.

No more warning labels. And if you sue someone for something you did to yourself, throw that one off a building.

It is a sad testimony that we humans typically learn the most when we screw something up or hurt ourselves or someone else. The video might be a handy training aid, but a lot of folks only learn the hard way. I have done some mishap investigations when I was in the Air Force…a lot of people doing really stupid things…until it hurts them!
When I was a handgun instructor some years back I kicked a couple of individuals out of my classes because they were careless or refused to pay attention to safety instructions. Was accused of being intolerant and even prejudice. My feeling is that guns and stupidity do not mix well.
I suspect the fellow in the video never had anyone train him…now he is self-trained.

At a range in Florida a couple of years ago, a man shot his son who was standing behind him when a piece .22 brass went down the back of his shirt. He shot his son in the throat and killed him. IIRC, it was posted on TGT......

This is why I have the hot brass and the brass dance discussion before every class I teach. I do this at the range, and I do it with every group that is on the line.

If it is the first time the guy has had brass go down his shirt, I can understand the reaction if no one has at least given him the basics of what to do if it happens.
I know, weird , but I am not going to call him an idiot for this. Untrained , yes, but not necessarily a moron.
    I agree. Untrained and inexperienced.

    Not necessarily stupid.

He got caught in a situation he had never been in before and reacted poorly.

Button the top button unless you want blisters all the way down your back to the nice big one at your beltline.

Yep some training is a good thing. Yet, growing up around firearms is often the worst place to get training because dad or Uncle Billy Jo'Bob often just pass along their bad habits.

While I do not think there is any way that a 9mm shell casing hurts enough to justify that hot-brass-dance, maybe if shot out of a sub-gun that has been shooting hundreds of rounds without stop except to change mags it might get hot enough to be as torturous as it apparently was for him. Of course maybe it also could be that bad if the shooter has over sensitive nerves. Still, absolutely nothing justifies him not taking his finger off of the trigger and putting the gun on the bench before doing the dance.

I, like others, have had plenty of hot brass go down my shirt or behind my shooting glasses. Never once did I do anything like that guy. I once tried to get the brass off of my neck while shooting an AR, I rolled my shoulder a bit while keeping the AR pointed at the target. The brass came right off of the spot between my collar and neck but it rolled down onto my shoulder. I felt it sizzling when it stopped there. I just kept shooting as it sizzled. Finished that part of my qualification, grounded the AR, stepped back from the line and got the casing off of my shoulder. Left a small scar but what would you do if involved in a shootout and that happened?

While a firearms instructor for my agency, I also have assured that some others at the range did not get shot or shoot someone else when they were doing the dance and I was the instructor closest to them. One has to wonder what someone like him would do if actually involved in a self defense shooting situation and hot brass went down his shirt or the pucker-factor gave out; probably get killed either by his adversary or by his own hand.

I generally will get brass between my toes on sandals. Usually enough to elicit a few choice quickly strung profanities, but not always.

closest ive had is i popped a rattler at my feet with a .22, he was on top of a rock, the lead splattered and peppered my foot.
not sure why i was wearing flip flops when i was expecting to find a dangernoodle in the first place, but thats how it goes.

yeah i cussed pretty good and the wife thought i missed and hit my foot.
