If you could upgrade to a lifetime TX LTC on your next renewal, would you do so, and if you would what is the highest fee you would be willing to pay for a lifetime LTC?

Yes, I would if I could.
Regarding the fee(s) we should only have to pay to replace/print out the ID card and reimburse range fees for the qualification... None of us should have to pay more to extend the length for flexing our right to carry. So.. how much more? $ZERO.

I’m with easy rider on this one. If $43 or whatever it is every five years is too much, then I better find another hobby. My LTC pic is the same as my drivers license. Its too bad the state can’t incorporate the LTC as an endorsement so we don’t need to carry two IDs. Then again maybe not a good idea since every time ID is shown you are advertising you carry. Snow flakes would melt

I don't think they would ever go for it. Just because you are a law-abiding citizen today, doesn't mean you won't go bat-shit-crazy and knock over a 7/11 in 10 years from now.

A lifetime LTC will remove your ability to bypass NICS.

An every 5 years mail it in no class, no test is fine.

Not exactly…. There is one state with a lifetime LTC, the DPS department is required to do a big check every 5 years, its done automatically. Their computer system kicks out a list for those needing their 5 year big check and it goes through the process. All without the LTC holder having to do a thing. It’s up to the DPS to do the Bg checks. As long as it’s written into law that DPS is required to do the checks, then our LTC will continue to bypassNICs

There are several states moving to Incorporate single card for ID/DL with your LTC.

Personally I don’t give a rats ass who knows I have a gun on me or not. I personally carry openly most of the time, unless it’s legally not allowed. I see it as a deterrent, and it has been a deterrent in many areas I have gone, or situations I have been in. I believe if you know I own, have or am carrying a gun it will be more of a deterrent to leave me alone then it would be if you didn’t know. It is also a way to show my weapon without actually having to “pull” my weapon and possibly b charged with brandishing.

I do understand some want to conceal, and even conceal the fact they have a LTC or even own a gun, and that’s their right to do so.

Not everyone has to pay $43 every 5 years either. Texas has various different ways that can be used to reduce that amount. Such as CPR, or indigency, senior citizen, current or former military, veteran, etc… $43 isn’t to much for me. I would easily pay $200 for a lifetime. For me it’s not about money but the convenience of not having to remember to renew my license. I don’t know how many times I have forgotten to renew the tags on my vehicles, or even DL, or all of my other various professional and non professional licenses for everything else.

I see the lifetime LTC as being an option, not as a requirement.

In 2023, there will be a bill to remove the entire fee for a LTC completely. There will also be a bill for a lifetime LTC. Also possible with no fee.

Maybe if I was a young pup. Next renewal will be my first senior discount. I'm not hedging any bet I'll live to 100 so paying extra for a somewhat nominal fee isn't worth it.
