Well so far, we made out a grocery list of things to pick up tomorrow morning for cooking, grilling and smoking this holiday weekend. Planning on a small brisket, a whole chicken, pork loin and some pork ribs for the smoker. Burgers, hot dogs, ribeye steaks and sausages for the grill. Wife is going to make some baked beans, potato salad, and a three bean casserole as well. Should be plenty that I can take to my father to eat on for few days and we won't have to do much if any cooking next week.

Three bean salad! I use to eat & make that all the time, then just like that no wax beans in the store.

Another summer salad I haven’t had in a while is sour kraut salad!

I know she uses the dark and light kidney beans, but not sure what the third one is she uses. I'll ask her later tonight when she gets home.

I'm going to fire up the smoker tomorrow evening to get it ready to go for smoking! Need to cut up some wood for it in the morning.

Having family over the weekend, tomorrow dinner will start with shrimp cocktails and champagne, then wood grilled filet mignons, BBQ Cowboy beans, dirty rice, green salad, cabernet wine. On Sunday, hot dogs and potato salad for lunch, and smoked chicken, lettuce wraps, cole slaw, cucumber salad, chocolate cake for dessert. Beer all day.

Prime rib eye seasoned with kosher salt and cracked pepper, grilled 5 minutes side.

New patatos quartered tossed in Olive Oil and seasoned with Montreal steak seasoning and a sliced onion. Nuke them for six minutes then put on the grill in a wok basket. Indirect heat and stir every few minutes so the cut sides of the taters brown to a deep golden brown.

Dessert will be my dad's frozen coolwhip and fruit cocktail concoction. Drain the fruit cocktail, mix in with the coolwhip and one teaspoon of worchestershire sauce. Then freeze overnight.

The worchestershire keeps everything from being too sweet and you don't notice it. This recipe won won dad 500 bucks from coolwhip in their contest at the time coolwhip was introduced.

BBQ grills, on patios, have been banned at my apartment complex because they are not 25 feet or more from the buildings. After 40 years or so of this hellhole being here, their insurance company, coincidentally now under the Biden administration, suddenly decides BBQ grills are forbidden on patios. That done yesterday - only one day before the commencement of the July 4th weekend! Friggin commies suck!

Just for your info, I have not seen one apartment where the resident of which has removed their grill yet!

Going through the sale papers again, I noticed Kroger's has ears of sweet corn on sale, six for a dollar. Might pick a few ears to throw on the grill.

Might also do some stuffed and bacon wrapped jalapenos if I can find some nice sized peppers.
