Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Revolver Knick

This 686 Plus is brand new. Someone (me) is an idiot, and didn’t notice this knick in the cylinder when I was inspecting the firearm. It is driving me crazy and I’m considering visiting a therapist to deal with the situation.

In all seriousness, while I am one of the “a gun is a tool“ crowd, I also paid what for me, is a hefty price for this thing. Anybody have any theories on what might have caused an imperfection like this on a brand new gun?

I would venture to say the gal in quality control was making a nail appointment on her cell phone while high on medical weed. Her main objective at the moment was what she was going to do about her munchies pains.

I agree, somebody at the factory was on FecesBook on their cellphone and probably dropped the cylinder or dropped a tool on it.

One way I found works decently well for dealing with such OCD problems is to turn the unwanted into wanted. Utilize the problem to your advantage. Make it an indexing mark, for example. Now it has a purpose and can serve your OCD well because wheel guns without cylinder index just plain drive me my own OCD crazy. The holes in the cylinder should come labeled with numbers, dangit!

There's probably not another revolver in America with exactly that tool mark in exactly that place

I'd document it with good pics, record all the info on the gun, then save it for positive ID if it's ever stolen, and for proof it's a factory problem if it ever causes one... then I'd go put all the ammo through it that I could afford...it'll probably serve your grandkids well.

If you called them, they might fix it for free...worth the call.
