Kind of my thoughts as well. I lost respect for Pence when he waffled on Trump after the election.
I lost my respect for him a LOT before that, when his loyalty to Trump kept his alleged Christian beliefs from directing him to occasionally confront the President on things relating to morality. Seemed like a rubber stamper.

    Glad Abbott isn't doing great.

Yeah.....violating the Texas Constitution and acting like a banana-republic dictator does rub folks the wrong way......
    I've seen worse.

    My thoughts on Abbott?

Last year the way the "pandemic" was handled by him wasn't his finest hour or achievements, but in all honesty, last year was a fiasco all over the country in how it was handled.

I'd like to think that Abbott did the best he could have done in that situation. A lot of people criticized his handling of the "pandemic" but very few were offering better options, or not even offering solutions, just bitching and moaning about Abbott.

But I'm not to the point of tossing Abbott under the bus just yet. We got Constitutional Carry because Abbott signed it into law. He could have just as well caved to the pressure of those opposing it, and vetoed the bill. But he promised to sign it if it crossed his desk, and he did just that, and now later this year it will be law in Texas.

Abbott isn't perfect, but IMO he's damn sight better than some we could have sitting in Austin.

He's lacked a LOT of spine a long time before COVID. He talks a good talk, for some things, if you don't look too closely. Dig a bit, and actually look at the underlying principles and Texas Constitution and ask yourself how Abbott could do the kinds of things he's done if his core principles were better.

You are free to make other choices if you feel Abbott is the wrong person for the job. That is why we have elections.

Me? Unless there becomes a choice that is clearly better than Abbott, I'll stick with Abbott. If Allen West decides to throw his hat into the competition, I'll be giving some heavy consideration to him being the next governor of Texas.

Agreed, Abbott has done pretty well given the circumstances and I won't jump blindly on the West bandwagon jet yet. The man talks a great game but there is far more to getting the job done than simple rhetoric...

As for Trump, he will do more harm than good in getting this country back on track in 2024.

People are going to have different opinions about Abbott, and that is why we have elections. I think that is how we decide if someone is fulfilling the job they were elected to do.

I do see it this way. There could always be someone better for the job, but there could also be someone way worse as well.
