I had a barrel installed on a M1 Garand receiver at Sportsman's Finest in Bee Cave. Was not happy with them at all. They quoted $60-$65 to do the job but when I picked it up the price had magically changed to $125. The bait-and-switch is a total deal breaker for me. I refuse to spend another penny there.
Did you get in writing? Did you ask them to call if it was going to be more than the quote? Did you give them specific instructions? Did they do the work in the timeframe they said it would get done? If not you are partly at fault. Not completely but partly.
The clerks at the store wouldn't even let me talk to the gunsmith when I dropped my parts off. The only communication I got from the gunsmith himself was via voicemail. That, if anywhere, is where I was at fault. I should have walked out right then when they said I couldn't speak directly with the individual doing the work. But, I was lazy and didn't want to go through the hassle of locating another gunsmith.
