Sure, it’s not hydrazene, but look at the front side of the equation. Production, storage, and distribution of LH2 and LOX (Blue Origin uses the liquid form of both) ain’t exactly clean.

The whole ‘total cost of ownership’ thing conveniently gets bypassed anytime ‘clean’ or ‘green’ energy gets bandied about. Is it relatively cleaner? Probably, but it a whole lot of other energy had to go into getting to the end use.

Hydrogen and Oxygen take a lot of energy to produce and cool. That energy comes from somewhere and unless they are using nuclear power, the energy probably comes from carbon.

"The rocket" is pretty clean "making the fuel" is what gets dirty (not that I have a problem with it and if I had the dough I would build one for me to)

So did that dumb broad narrating the launch. As soon as she spewed out the part about being ‘clean’ rocket fuel, I thought (out loud) what a dumb bitch.

Wife didn’t speak to me for most of yesterday so yeah, it was worth it.

The Space Shuttle main engines were essentially the same propellant/propulsion system as BE-3, yet nobody gushes how clean that was.

I have a 1982 RABBIT DIESEL that I drive 4 miles to get groceries!!
Sometimes I pour peanut oil in the tank after I get done deep fryin' Carnitas if the Ford Tractor doesn't get it first!

IIRC diesel prices eclipsed regular unleaded before LS and ULS. That's when us country boys really started hitting the "red".
