Hay is this Gambler again.? Or another retard retread arguing prick?

    Serious question.

I'm leaning towards an immature troll. Gambler was an old troll! Gambler at least knew how to spell and capitalized proper words and had some sentence structure in his posts.

UNLESS! It's Gambler disguising his posts, with bad spelling and grammar!

yeah yeah and you are probably gonna go on about how you can write cursive on a stone tablet.
Getting into pissing matches with the folks here will end up with you getting banned. I dont want to see that, but few here pull punches when we see either ignorance or error.

I like some of what you post and want to stick around, but that will only happen if you are honest with us, yourself and can keep a cool head when arguing. The mods here are VERY fair, but they don't tend to tolerate new folks coming in and causing a ruckus. I've had many passionate debates with these guys, sometimes we agree, sometimes not, but they are honest, have wisdom that olny comes with age and if they call you out for inconsistent statements or beliefs it is time to evaluate yourself and consider what you do actually believe.

See my above post. You started with ignorance* or error, were called out and then you started trolling instead of addressing your fallacy.

what fallacy would that be, that I asked someone to cite sources to counter an argument when they clearly asked for sources and I gave them some? id like some consistency on how some of these folks want things done y'know?

You may not like what they are saying, but without re-doing Axxe's work, and verifying for myself, it sounds like you need to come up with some logical consistency.

There are two ways you get shit from people.
    1) you are right, they are wrong and they try to trip you up.

    2) You are wrong, they are right and they correct you.

    If #1, why stay?
If #2, why not listen with a little humility?

why would I listen to someone who wont look deeper into an issue or even consider that the prison system might need some change im not even trying to change opinions here, im just stating my views on things.
and to answer question two, im hardheaded and stubborn.

You're using straw man arguments again, I don't think anyone objected to some prison reform, there is room for improvement in every field of work, but your suggestions of books and learning are already being done. Until the individual decides to change, no amount of books, teaching or rehab will alter the outcome at all.

It reminds me of when folks call for police reform and say they want to see X training and Y policies when they ALREADY get X training and the policies they demand are already on the books and being enforced.

One step is simple. Harsh mandatory sentences for gun crime convictions. Worked like a charm in Fort Worth some years back. Less/easier punishment is never the answer.

But as it stands in the current climate, policies are headed in the opposite direction. So it will continue to get worse, not better.

Apparently, you have reading difficulties along with other problems. I have clearly stated several times in this thread, and in many other threads before you joined this forum, that our penal systems need to be changed.

Now my idea of changes are much different than yours by a long-shot. My thoughts on our penal systems are ones I have held for great number of years, from my own personal experiences and observations that were made long before you were even born.

You want to act like an immature child and post a bunch of gibberish, well this group here will take you to task in a heartbeat. If I were you, I'd heed @cycleguy2300 posts where he is offering you some well-founded advice and suggestions in his last few posts.

Or don't, and you will be just another banned member that is long forgotten. As cycleguy mentioned, the Mods and Admins here do frown on trolling and shut trolls down pretty fast.

I'm cool with severe penalties for "use of firearm in the commission of" , but not so hot for statutory type offenses being offenses at all (even felon in possession etc), but soft wish-washy punishment does not provide any real deterrent to violation the law.

Totally agree. They already have enhancements for sentencing if a gun is involved, but the problem lies with not using them as they should be, and that the judicial system is like the game show, "Lets Make A Deal" when handing out sentences for crimes.

When he said this or something else?

You are exactly correct. People have the right to ruin their lives, and they do so whether it's by legal means, or illegal. They do it every day.

And not one law is going to ever change that fact. Not one law has changed it one bit either.

And I have said, what a person does in private, should be their choice and their business. It's when the bring into public what they do in private that is of concern to me and everyone.

Gentlemen, I humbly suggest that everyone sit back, breath deeply for 1 minute, and relax just a bit.

Y'all are both 'making solid hits' with some of the points being made, while missing some context across most of the rest.

You can both be correct on the same topic, while also both missing some crucial perspectives, IMHO.

...for profit prisions suck and the prison system itself needs an overhaul...

^Very much so. This is a solid point worthy of immense consideration.

My plan would be to return prisons back into what they use to be before the bleeding heart liberals got all involved in giving inmates more rights and freedoms than law-abiding citizens.

    ......

Hard not to be emotional to some degree about drugs. In many ways, the vast majority have in some way come in contact with drugs, or people that have or do use drugs. Those emotions a lot of times influence what people think or believe about drugs, or the way drugs should be treated.

^Dude, your intentions are in the right place, and that last part I quoted is absolutely spot-on; however, there's no going back, and that shouldn't be any part of our goal.

There so much more detail I would like to add, but that level of dissertation isn't something I have spare time for at the moment. Suffice to say, this is an extremely complicated, and overall extremely important topic; one I will likely come back to at some point...

I scanned over the articles and did a little checking, and nothing there proves the comments you made in the least.

The first article. Maybe you should look at the people that wrote the article. I pulled up their company website. A bunch of Democrat bleeding heart liberals!

^I didn't look at any of those links provided, so can't comment on them, but I'll leave the following link for you to read. I can assure you, it's very real. PM for more details if you want...

Let's regain our composure and civilized discussion.

    Thank you.

ETA: none of what I posted should be construed as 'overly tolerant'. There are many nuances involved, with some worthy of a second chance, and some worthy of adorning pikes with their heads. Mistake not thorough consideration for weakness.
