I'm awaiting the release of the new Dune movie remake.
I like Sci-Fi movies. So, I have been tempted again lately to sit down and try to sit through all of Dune being I can bring it up on demand at any time but I just cannot bring myself to do so. I have tried watching several times before but it just does not seem worth the time to watch it all the way through. Maybe a remake would hold my interest.

Although I like the 1951 version of "The Day The Earth Stood Still", I do believe the 2008 version is better.
There have been very few movies (I think only two) during the watching of which I have gotten up and left the theater because I thought they were terrible and the remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still is the preeminent one of those. The other was one of the Alien sequels, maybe the third one, which somehow I liked when I watched it all the way through on TV years later.

The original Godzilla movies (and most of the followup ones) where the special effects look like they were done by a 4th grader are the best.
Some of them you can actually see the wires holding up the monsters !

Remember "Invaders from Mars"? You could actually see the zippers in the suits the Martians wore. And they repeated the same scenes of them running around underground over and over and over. Funny stuff!!

Klaatu barada nikto! One of my fav movie lines ever.

I liked both movies, but Keanu Reeves is no Michael Rennie. I just kept waiting for him to say "dude". :frog:

The original TV show of the Green Hornet with Van Williams and Bruce Lee was a pretty decent show. The movie with Seth Rogen and Jay Chou was a crap pile. The only decent parts were when Cameron Diaz and Edward James Olmos were on the screen.

The original 1953 version of War of the Worlds was OK. In my humble opinion the later 2005 version with Tom Cruise was muuuuccchhh better story and special effects. I also actually enjoyed the TV series that recently came out.
