OK... so he isn't a total fruitcake but he is way too liberal for me. Given our cast of characters in the 2008 President for hire show, he has to be my candidate - whether I Like him or not. He is the only representative that hasn't publicly said he would be in favor of taking away Constitutional rights. (including gun rights).

What the hell has happened to our political process that has resulted in this poor selection of candidates? Have all of the legitimate candidates said "no way"?

Can we all get together and buy half of South Texas and form our own country?

which half would you want to buy?
I think the west half so we could close our border, that would be very
    interesting.

Pillboxes every 100 yards manned with M2's and a complimented 120mm mortar team supporting 5 boxes. WWI / Maginot style defenses. Then when they start parachuting in we can use the anti-ordinance automated gun systems.

I honestly don't understand Mccain at all. For someone that has been a POW, had all their rights taken away in essence since they were a POW, and had to endure all that I would think he would be extremely conservative and at the least not have any negative position on individual gun ownership (IE - being able to defend oneself). RP, Huckabee, and Fred dropped out so who do we even have left worth voting for. I don't want to vote for Mccain, though he certainly is the lesser of 2 evils when it comes to the Democrats.

I didn't say I wouldn't end up voting McCain... just that I think the man is a nut. This will certainly be one of those "least of all evils" vote.

I voted for him so I would not have to vote for Hitlery or Obama.I wish a person who would defend our gun rights would run as an independent.I am stocking up on the Hi caps just in case.

Problem with voting for someone in an independent party is that there is no way an independent party candidate can be elected at this time. Voting for them would just be weakening the vote for McCain and making it easier for Hillary or Obama to be elected. And even if by some miracle an independent candidate could be elected they would be virtually powerless as Pres because they would have no party base of support in either house of Congress. Just my opinion. YMMV

Honestly, IMO one of the biggest problems with politics in our country is both the Democratic and Republican parties. I honestly think we should just abolish them both. I want people to run based on principle, not image and what looks best for their respective parties. I'm sure that's an unrealistic view in this day and age, but I think each party serves it's own purposes too much. I also think we get too caught up as a people with trying to "group" and "classify" things together.
