What if your choice was either Mitt Romney or Joe Manchin? ;)
But it’s not. It’s between Abbott, assuming he is the nominee, and someone like O’Rourke. You know, a progressive dem. It’s not been that long since the Democratic contenders for governor boasted about their support for the death penalty, but those old school Dems are all gone. When I first moved to San Antonio (1987), my state rep was a Dem with a 100% rating from the NRA. Today the contenders openly say they will take our AR’s.

I can’t believe anyone is actually suggesting not voting for an (R) candidate.

if I had a business that went under due to the bat aids lockdowns and I had a republican governor, and a republican legislature, I can seriously see not casting a ballot for the cocksucker that cost me my business.

And this is why Dems keep winning the political game while conservatives keep losing. If conservatives keep voting for RINOS, that's what the GOP will run. If RINOS stop getting votes, then the GOP will look for conservative candidates. If that means RINOS lose a few elections, so be it. Dems can be stopped in other ways until the next election....

So knock the RINO out in the primaries. Otherwise you simply don’t have enough votes to make a difference and not voting only helps the Dems. The elections RINOs need to lose comes before the general.

I'm beginning to think some of you are closet Democrats who actually want Beto or Matthew McConaughey in the Texas governor's mansion!

Speaking of which, McConaughey hasn't committed to a party yet. What will you do if he seeks the Republican nomination?

A Dallas Morning News/University of Texas at Tyler poll from last month (for what that's worth) has 44% of voters favoring McConaughey compared to 35% for Abbott.

And that has probably been that way for a number of years now. What would you propose we do?

This is in essence a public forum, and as far as I know, anyone can join and as long as they follow the rules of the forum can either just lurk and read, or even, (Gasp!) post opposing and differing opinions and viewpoints.

    This.
By the time it get's to the General Election, you no longer have the "the best" to vote for. Just "the best one left".

If Abbott is running in the election, he'll get my vote. I don't know of any republican running against him in the primary who has any chance of winning. There sure as hell isn't a democrat I'd like to see in office. Abbott isn't perfect, and he's made a few mistakes (perhaps). But damn, is anyone here really considering a wanna-be gungrabber in a mini-skirt, or a Hollyweird freak for governor?? I hope Texas doesn't sink that low, they may never be able to crawl back out of that pit!!!

I don't hate Abbott. I just don't think he has Texas at the top of his list anymore. Like the 2 before him he wants more power. Abbott is a rabbit for Abbott.
If Abbott is the nominee I will vote for him.
Until then I support Col. West. I admire a man that will stand up for his wife and family.
This can change. In the nationals I supported Cruz until he pulled out and I voted for Trump. Turned out Trump was/is the right guy. F***Joe Biden

OK, I'll play. What will West do that's any better than Abbott?

I find it ironic the man you are supporting is guilty of the exact things you're accusing the current governor of doing ("I just don't think he has Texas at the top of his list anymore" "he wants more power" "Abbott is a rabbit for Abbott").

Every one of those describes West to a 'T.'

No, I was talking about West, not some hollywood weirdo or a gun grabber in a mini skirt.

If you're speaking to me, then you should use my name. My vote list is West first, then Huffhines. I don't consider Prather worth a vote because of what we got the last time we elected an entertainer to state office (Dan Patrick).

If Abbott somehow wins the primary and runs against either of your aforementioned Dem-bots, my vote is simple.....None Of The Above. I won't support an unconstitutional tyrant....no matter what party he "represents".

Kinda surprised that surprises you. What surprises me is the number of RINOs roaming the TGT veldt.....

    Ron Paul endorsed Huffines.

In my opinion, we need to help Huffines instead. West is establishment, too, and he's weak on some key things, including abortion.

West wouldn't have forced people to close their business.
Oh really? It's quite easy to say something like that, after the fact, and when campaigning, because it costs nothing to say and doesn't have to be proven, one way or the other.

The fact is, we will never know what West would have done, because it wasn't under his authority, and he wasn't in the position to make such decisions. Can't prove a negative.

But you can prove a positive. Abbott rode roughshod over the rights and livelihood of Texas citizens with his 2020 power grab, yet he'll kowtow to the political "elite" who defy his EOs now. And he'll let the Legislature under Dud Phelan and the Runaway Dems avoid addressing the issues on that conservatives are demanding attention. We know Abbott's behavior patterns.

And we know West's behavior based on his history. He's been consistent in his ideology and actions. Same with Huffhines.

Question is....will Texas voters realize the mistake and stop voting for purple RINOs....or will they keep doing what they're doing and complain about getting what they voted for?.....

Don't be so egotistical. It was a general question not directed at anyone...

And I am not surprised by the response. It shows how ill-informed many are on this forum...
