This is a follow-up to a previously locked thread:

As it is a locked thread, I will not engage the long discussion that caused the thread to be locked. Instead, I am posting for the sake of some people who kindly asked to see my pic posing at the border, as well as provide some legal information for people's reference.

As this is a thread about rifle pictures, I do not think it violates the letter or spirit of the thread.

See attached pic: it's a Kel-tec Sub2000, which I purchased in my previous time living in Texas, in 2010.

I also did some research before doing this:
The open carry of rifles and shotguns is perfectly legal in Texas. There are no laws that regulate the keeping or bearing of these arms. Section 42.01(a)(8) does mention that such weapons cannot be carried in a “manner calculated to cause alarm.” So, a person has to consciously be aware that his/her conduct is “calculated” to cause alarm.

I reasoned that since I was posing in front of the sign, with the rifle not pointed at the road or to incoming traffic, it would be interpreted as "posing for a picture" and hence not calculated to cause alarm.

Bought my first ever left handed rifle. Zastava M70 Mauser by Charles daly. Chambered in 308. It needs some trigger work, but besides that I'm pretty impressed with it from a visual aspect. I like that it has irons sights on it.. most rifle these day don't. I haven't fired it yet and for the life of me can't find what twist rate it has. I'm thinking 1-12 from the 12 stamp on the barrel. So it may not like heavier bullets. Only one way to find out.
