I get why but let’s be real: most animal shelters/adoption centers have over dramatic pet owners who think they are Cesar Millan and just need to stfu.

That must be in the big cities because the smaller towns are happy to find folks to adopt the pups. As a matter of fact, Coleman was used to people coming from around the country to adopt dogs.

Even if that's the case.....it's better that they be euthanized? The $200 fee was "justified" as being to preclude them being used at bait. The same is being claimed for the "background investigation". Which is it - or is it just another example of a non-regulated industry creating their own rules because they can?

I agree with you completely. I just know that's how they "justify" it.

Also, whenever my wife shows me pictures of animals people put up for adoption of FB, if they don't already have "re-homing" fee tacked on, then some idiot chimes in that they need to for this reason.

And if they DO put a "rehoming fee" on it, someone ELSE will report it as "unauthorized animal sales", and the person "guilty" of trying to find a better life for a pet is booted off of FB. I admin a dozen or so FB pages....FB is shutting people down/booting them for about any reason they can imagine - yet the REAL scammers operate at will. It's to the point that I don't GAF any longer. They took down a page I had with over 200k members - all we had were hot rods and parts for sale/trade. They made the claim that I'd approved a "fake news" post. I messaged them the PROOF that the post was, in fact, accurate and they reinstated the page. I then spent the next 3 weeks removing EVERY member and sending them over to a web-based site a buddy runs. Removed every member I could, then archived the page....screw 'em. We had like 10k page visits a day that's now going to an OFF FB site.
