Well, I have one job this Thanksgiving, and one job only. To smoke the turkey! I'll start on that late Wednesday evening. May also have a ham to smoke as well, but the wife hasn't decided yet or not.
What time is dinner? Asking for a friend. I made pies yesterday and I'm making queso Thursday. The queso isn't Velveeta and Rotel, its roasted tomatoes, peppers and onions with cream cheese and three types of cheddar with milk.

Sadly, I don't get an extra long weekend. I get Thursday off but will be working since we don't get any paid holidays and we really need the money for now.
I guess I'm an oddball. I used to love working the Friday after Thanksgiving. Everyone was gone so I could actually get a lot done without interruptions. If possible and for the same reasons, I used to try to work every Christmas eve and New Year's eve.

If no one was here I would probably love it, but everyone will be here.

Started cooking. BIG pot of pintos with a spiral cut ham bone, cooking down so thick you eat with a fork. One pan of dressing made, trying something different. put in some boudain. Have ham and turkey ready to warm. Other stuff on Wednesday, including a black berry cobbler.

I can remember many times being the low man on the totem pole and having to always work the holidays. Sort of sucked because I wasn't able to spend time with the family, but when I worked out of state, it really didn't matter that much, because the drive would have been too far anyways.

Upside was there usually was a bonus or paid time off that I could use at a later date.
