Iirc, there is only one video of Arbery going into the house. Under construction and with no doors installed. He left without taking anything.
Father involved saw him leave and called his son and his friend. Then went to pick his son up nearby. Father had a pistol, son a shotgun. Then met up with fiend. Unclear if friend was armed or not.
Then thay went hunting. They arranged to split up and find Arbery and communicated with radios to corner him when found. This was after they had lost sight of him for some time.
They had also been told by police dispatch that officers were in route and to disengage and go home.
When cornered, Abery tried to run around the truck when the son cut him off at point blank range with a raised shotgun. He was not attacking, he was trying to escape a hunting expedition.
At that point, who had committed what crime, if any, was a moot point. They were the aggressors. They committed murder.
All three got what they deserve.

Thats a lot of work to go chase down a guy who "might" be a possible suspect in something you have no proof of. Dad was a retired cop and should have known better. If you want to follow...follow at a distance, get a good description of the possible suspect and stay on the line until a unit arrives. Let the police take the risk, why put that on yourself?

Like I said before I've went into homes under construction in places I was buying or looking to buy. Lots of folks do..

    Bad shoot, good verdict.

If you suspect someone of doing wrong or committing a possible criminal, sometimes the best job a citizen can do is, just be a good observer and witness. Gather as much information as possible.

Q: Do you think, given Georgia’s criteria for use of force, deadly force, and self defense statues, the verdict should have been different?
I think someone grabbing the wrong end of a shotgun could have consequences. Aubrey could have waited for the police or taken evasive action.

He was running away, what other evasive action do you suggest.

    Quit digging.

There is no way to spin this to make it possibly right.

Please explain how it was Arbery's fault he got shot?

From what I understand, he was trying to evade them. In all essence, they were a hunting party, and he was the game.

The guy that did gather info and video was found guilty of murder too. I was surprised that they found him guilty. The father and son I thought were guilty. The video guy less so.

Having not seen the trial, or heard any of the testimony from the trial, I have to ask this question.

What exactly did he do to stop the events from happening to keep Arbery from being killed?

IMO, if he just stood there and watched, did nothing and said nothing to prevent the events leading to Arbery's death, then he us just as guilty in my mind.

I didn't watch the whole thing either but just realize that all of the video was given to the police by this guy and nobody would have been guilty without it.
As far as stopping events, if you saw a bank robbery would you rush in to stop the bad guys? Probably not (I wouldn't) but I would record from a safe distance and call police. But, the jury has spoken and they did watch the whole trial.

A bank robbery? No way. I'd do the same. Record from a distance.

But this individual was their friend. He could have stepped up and intervened at any point. LE was on the way.

Witnesses to a crime should be charged too? You cannot mean that.

I think in this case he was more than a witness, but was accused of helping dumb & dumber box AA in. So he was a participant.

Since I do not believe in 3rd party liability, I would not convict him of murder, but could find lesser charges.
