I don't want to out the guy. I'm kinda embarrassed for him. At the same time, I hope his supervisor views the grille cam video. If I had more balls I would've asked him to arrest me for it. On the other hand, I have to much to lose if a BS charge sticks.
Actually, that is exactly what you do. Make an official complaint with the troopers superiors. That is how perceptions and mindsets are changed.

If his understanding of the laws in this state are incorrect, they need to be corrected. His job is to enforce the laws. Not make them up as he goes about his day.

Unless I misunderstood your reply, I wasn't asking you to tell us his name, I just was wondering if the second trooper was the least bit curious who told you the bogus info.
I know. I was just saying I didn't want to out him with his co-workers. I think they can see who performed previous stops though.

    You have a point there.

This cop is full of shit. You can open carry your gun anyway you want as long as it is in a holster. Concealed you can carry it in holster or not. In your vehicle you can conceal it or open carry it in a holster. Meaning you can have it right next to you on the seat or any other way if in a holster.

    Why were you pulled over?

I hope it wasn't for acting a fool on the road
    ,
or all this harassment... MIGHT be justified... :D

People who don't get pulled over packing heat,
are the ones that don't act a fool on the road...

I have personally never seen anyone, not acting a fool...
    get pulled over.

Some cops are straight up dumbasses. I got pulled over on my motorcycle for not wearing a helmet. I told the cop that I wear one 99% of the time but it's perfectly legal for me to choose not to. He wanted to argue so I shut up and he let me go with a verbal warning.

I told another cop (I shoot the shit with a lot of them) about it and he laughed and said that cop didn't know what he's talking about.

My point is they can't possibly know every law, that's why lawyers have law degrees and "practice" law.

Wonder why the holster is the game changer...

    ds,

For years, I've been told LEO's couldn't access your LTC status unless you tell them. That such information was not on your DL or License Plate. Or, maybe I was misinformed or perhaps misunderstood.

Or, is their ability to access your LTC status something new or was always so.

    I'm all corn-fused.
LTC status comes back with a DL check

You posted: "If you are directly enroute to or from your vehicle, residence or shooting range/shop you can carry open, concealed, in or out of a holster."

As far as I know, if I'm an LTC holder I can do the above at any time...no need for the above qualification.

Or, are you referring to the non-LTC holder and their limitations?

    Thanks!
That part of the law is for a non-license holder.

You could probably do a little calling or emailing and get this Trooper on the phone with you and not have to go the complaint route unless he is stubborn when provided the correct info.

"Trooper X gave me a warning for Y but I had a question about what he said about carrying a handgun. I just wanted to clarify what I remembered since I am confused. Thanks"

Maybe had you read the OP's previous replies, he got pulled over for a inoperative headlight.

I got pulled over for a dead headlight. It worked but only part time. LOL.
Plus I'm in a big rig, they can and do pull us over for no reason.

I like this. I struggle with communication at times and that wording seems on point.

If they don't know they shouldn't guess or make it up.
I have heard of this happening in non-free-states...
If an officer pulls you over they should know the law, if they are harping on you for it...

My understanding is that if you get an ignorant copper, spitting lies, nonsense, and made up crap, you probably need to have him call his supervisor to set HIM straight, as he is CLEARLY triggered by freedom, and current-law, rather than logic and reason (AKA, the law, and his personal vendetta against liberty), he's a poosey, and spits lies due to his FEELZ ("feelings")... rather than the actual law... (like lefties that say the 2A is only about hunting, and non-semi-auto, when there is HISTORIC, AND CLEAR evidence of the counter...
