Intruder killed in Arlington break-in is identified
By NATHANIEL JONES An intruder killed Monday night after he got into a shootout with a homeowner was identified as 32-year-old Cedric Phillips of Arlington.
Phillips was reportedly one of two gunmen who forced their way into a home in the 900 block of Carthage Way before being met by an armed resident inside. Phillips and the unnamed resident exchanged gunfire on the stairs.
Phillips died instantly from multiple gunshot wounds to the head, chest and abdomen, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner's Web site.
Police have said the resident appeared to be justified in the shooting.
Police are still seeking the identity of the second intruder.
