Anyone have any experience with AGM thermals, such as the AGM Rattler?

    TIA
Coworker just bought one couple weeks. He brought it in and let me look through it. I had a Trijicon IR-hunter. So, I have high standards.

Hands down.... I would buy one without hesitation. And, If I was ever going to get back into the thermal market that would be my go-to. I just don't hunt at night enough to justify the price tag of the high-end scopes. But I could justify the $1750 price tag for the rattler for maybe hunting once a week or month. It's packed full of features and I would feel comfortable at shooting coyotes and hogs out to 50-200yrds with it. You could ID a human I'd say maybe 6-800yrds. He's been pleased so far. His dad bought one with him, so the guy cut a deal.

Good to hear. I have a low-end FLIR and happy, but had always wondered about the AGM. I might get one someday.

The Chinglish is strong with these scopes. Where are they imported from and who services them?
I contacted AGM about one of their thermals and that particular model uses FLIR components, and is made and assembled in the US.

Not sure if that is true of all their thermals.

Fascinating. They need a new writer in marketing. :)

The TS25 384 is pretty good for the price point. I've played with the Rattler TS25 & Pulsar XM38, XQ38, XQ50 & XP50 side by side. The Rattler TS25 has less base magnification of 1.5x Vs 2x or 3x on the pulsars so you get a little wider field of view. The higher base magnification works better if hunting open areas with distance like open pastures. For 2k the 384 resolution is pretty good in the Rattler. The Pulsar XQ38 or XQ50 both have 384 resolution & are $300-$1300 more plus scope rings. The Rattler is on my to get list. The main difference is the Rattler doesn't have 1shot sight in like the Pulsars do.

Thermals with 284 or 320 resolution aren't worth the money IMO. It's better to save up for something with 384 or higher resolution. Once you get in to 640 resolution the image gets better, especially when you zoom in. The image doesn't distort or blur as much. But your also jumping up to the 5k range for 640 resolution.

Rattler also has a very slow scan rate. Sensor is real IR (4-12 um but doesn't say germanium glass) so that's good.

I don’t have a Rattler but have one of their hand held spotters. The Tipan TM19 384. I am really impressed with it, I had a Flir and still have a AGM Asp 160 and borrowed a buddys Rattler 35 384, I think the quality of AGM and picture quality is fantastic and really thinking of picking up Rattler 35.
I contacted AGM about a issue with my ASP 160, they sent me a prepaid return and replaced it, new one in my hands in four days. their customer service was great when I used them and think they are a stand up company.

Any place in San Antonio to look thru a rattler, or get a good deal on one?

Understand that it can be difficult to assess the capabilities of these scopes inside of somebody's business. All thermals look pretty darned good inside, controlled environment, short distances. Going out in the parking lot and looking at cars will make the scope look phenomenal as metal objects like vehicles look freaking amazing.

You need to get out in the country and look at coyotes, calves, dogs, hogs, deer, etc. and see how you think it does.

I used to do thermal demos for a company, which is how I know.

Just got the ts25-384 rattler, works great. Works in daylight too. For uncooled detection, very good picture. Not a sensitive as Mil FLIR but good. I did some FLIR (Mk68) design work a long time ago. You can't see through window glass?
