My wife's sister got one for a Christmas gift a few years ago. She said the Roomba was junk after trying it out one day.

Really? My wife has an Eufy robo vac and loves it.
It's not a replacement to a good old-fashioned vacuum, but it's amazing how much it picks up. I look at the bin full of crap and the bristle full of hair and I'm glad it runs daily.
It runs while we are away so it bothers nobody but the dog.

I have a couple of echo dots.

I play music. I set alarms. I ask it for the weather forecast. It turns several lights on/off. It notifies me when a package is left at the gate.

And I use my Roomba and it gets under the couch and under the bed clean - especially great for dog hair!

Didn't think I'd like the echo dot or Roomba. I was wrong about both.

Nah, no mapping, they have sensors to sniff out the ammo cache and report home to uncle Joe.

Not in my house. They already listen through the wifi modem and our phones.

Rarely use it for music but it listens for glass breakage as part of my alarm system. Robo vac...yes, it's in the closet due to the dang thing always getting wrapped in a cord, dog toy or stuck on a plant stand with angled legs.

and the best one is alexa turn on television. It turns on all the components in the correct order without a single remote.

crawl into bed and alexa shut it down. Turns off lights and TV

Got an Echo dot free with some promotion years back. It's still in the box. I have a lot of home automation, but it's all locally controlled via HomeAssistant.
