I was with my buddy in a '55 Chevy and had this happen. He had just put in some kind of wild ass cam and we were giving it a test. It sure would turn some RPM's! Just as he pushed in the clutch to go to 3rd gear, hell happened. Boom! Then a cloud of dust, sparks, smoke, clutch springs and, clutch pieces were flying everywhere. I was trying to be as small as I could. The disc came up through the cowl like in the photo and cut the radio in two on it's way up.
The only injury was that when my buddy had his hand on the shifter, a piece of something hit him on the tip end of his little finger.

I was honored to give the most beautiful girl on Earth her first driving lesson today. She did great until two police cars pulled up in the parking lot. She hit the brakes and froze. "Oh, my God daddy! What am I going to do???" It was all I could do not to scream laugh. I told her - Keep doing exactly what we've been doing. A few minutes later, she said: "One day I'm going to drive one of those - just like you!" God; I hope not. I really hope and pray NOT. I never knew my heart had this much capacity.
