I see many places to buy holsters and even bought one online for my S&W 9mm EZ. A leather one that fits with a belt only but doesn't feel right. I have no idea though, it may be the perfect one yet nothing to compare it to. I have the "no butt syndrome" whereas my too large waist for my age suddenly drops considerably to no ass where pants drop if carrying any weight. We all usually try on shoes and clothes before buying, is there a way to do that with holsters?

    Thanks

If there is, I'm not aware of one. It's pretty much process of elimination. I've got the same "syndrome" you do. I've had good luck with DeSantis thumb break scabbards. I have one for my Sig and one for my 1911. I have to wear them pretty much right at 3 o'clock because of my overhang, but they hold the pistol securely, put leather between me and the steel, and if I have my belt tight enough (but not too tight, of course) the holster actually kind'a helps my pants stay up. And it's not uncomfortable to wear them all day.

For IWB, AlienGear "Cloak Tuck" and Crossbreed "Super Tuck" holsters have served me well.

Of course, you're not me, so your luck might not be as good with the same holsters.

Before you look at holsters, you need to check your belt. Get a belt with some stiffness that will support your holster. That will make more of a difference than the holster. I like the Wilderness Tactical Frequent Flyer 5-Stitch Belt.

Also, have you considered wearing suspenders? I have the no-hip-no-ass problem, too. Wearing Perry Ubee Suspenders under my shirt has made a huge difference.

I agree. The Crossbreed Supertucks are really comfortable I have one for each of my carry guns. Very comfortable and top notch construction.

The belt is more important than the holster. Get a steel insert belt which has the holes closer together than a standard belt. This helps with having the belt snug. Bigfoot is one.

Try going to a place like GT Distributors, or a police supply place. There used to be one of the latter on Garland, kinda' sorta' near Buckner. It's been a long time since I lived up that way, so take it with a grain o' salt.

I'll also agree that a good gun belt is a necessity. I also have the noassatall infliction of an old man. I may try the recommended suspenders. I second the Cross Breed Super Tuck and I use belts from The Belt Man.

I've been making holsters for several years now. The biggest factor in holster making or buying is that EVERYBODY is different. A holster that works great for one person (comfortable, accessible, affordable, etc.) is a miserable POS for the next person. Just putting it on doesn't tell you much. Needs to be worn for at least a couple of hours to get the feel of it.
Pretty much why I started making holsters in the first place. I couldn't find holsters that worked for me that didn't cost as much as my truck! (almost)

Belt, suspenders, and nice leather holster is how my best friend carries his full size 1911. It just disappeares on him when he’s strapped up.

Key to this is the leather belt and holster are quality, not cheap Walmart shit.

I buy and use custom leather holsters made by guys like Ryan at R Grizzle, and Andrews Holsters.
I have never tried them on prior, basically bought them thru word of mouth. I have lucked out, I like them a lot.
But it can be a crap shoot. Like many others, I have a drawer filled with holsters.
