Lonesome Dove

Over the past few weeks I watched the following again:

- The original Lonesome Dove with Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones

- Return to Lonesome Dove with Jon Voight

- Lonesome Dove Streets of Laredo with James Garner

These are all solid westerns with the kind of characters I miss seeing in the trash they produce these days. I am glad Hollywood took the time to produce decent westerns at a time when the art had almost died out.

I hear ya. Silverado, Tombstone, and Open Range are also some good ones that come to mind.

The Big Country with Gregory Peck, Charlton Heston, and Burl Ives. Perhaps not the grandeur of some but a different take on westerns.

One weekend I binged every version of the Magnificent Seven. They ranged from the sublime to the ridiculous. The Yul Brenner original is still the best in my book.

Cheap Westerns that are now on with no name actor & directors suck about like Godzilla movies with out of sync audio.

Not sure who pays for the low budget crap movies on the idiot box, but bad they are. I watched on last night about Tunnel Rats in Vietnam, one scene the M16 looked pretty modern in the front hand guards.

Yep, I can’t wait for Baldwin to be cleared so he can finish the Rust movie; has to be Academy Award material with that douche at the helm. Hopefully it will never see the light of day

As mentioned earlier The Big Country is very good. That scene where Burl Ives walks into the party is great.
